The Devotional - A Look at the Book #620

The Devotional - A Look at the Book #620

by Jesse Abel

Papa “J” May Say

If it were not for the JOY of the LORD; life as His child would be no different than that of the rest of the world. But I must hurry along today!

Thoughts about Life

Have you ever sought help by asking friends, neighbors, working associates and relatives for information? Of course you have and you know as I do that there is always someone willing to sit in the seat at the desk called, “the help desk”! The computer that I am on is the same one that would not work yesterday and I am not sure that I will be successful today but we shall all see. Before seeing some of the replies from yesterday (Thank You All) and Gary I will be talking with you; I was sharing my woes with a man at work who seems savvy about these computer glitches. His information seemed good so as soon as I got home, I went right to work on his information and for a moment I thought all was well… However; after the two minute warning that the game was going to end with computer 7 and Jesse with a 3 point punt, my wife and coach called for another time out for supper. This morning I almost gave up, but decided to move some files around and that seems to help… we shall see, well enough, I gotta keep moving.

Ecclesiastes 7

Verse 20 – Here is a statement that all of us can say… AMEN too! As all of us have bumped into those who say they do not commit sin. What do you do when someone says that they are good and that they never do things that are sinful? Sometimes these folks are so adamant or unyielding about their good character that it is operation sin while they speak. Romans 2 and 3 is a good study for you and me to be prepared for those who think they are too good to sin.

Verse 21 – This is another trip wire in life, is it not? I have been on both sides of this torment for the vanity of life. As the director of housing, to the title of driver currently at the auto dealership I see and hear the words of the world flying back and forth. I don’t know how you handle this, but for me I see the cursing, curses itself. Ever notice that when you back bite that it always bites back!

Verse 22 – Always there is an opportunity to curse someone as evil is always lurking at your side. Often as my lips are about to join in, the conviction in my heart by the Holy Spirit is saying… oh Jesse, you have done this before and where did it get you? Shame of face! I do not like shame of face and I do not know anyone who does. It is better to hold the tongue in check and let God open a door that cannot be shut; or shut the door that should be opened. James 3:1-12.
