The Devotional – 1080 – Foot Steps in Second Corinthians, On Going

The Devotional – 1080 – Foot Steps in Second Corinthians, On Going

We have all suffered through the anticipation of a visit from a friend or relative whom we have not seen for some time; only to find out that the planned trip would be delayed or not happen at all. Normally when meetings like this fall apart it is transportation, weather or illness that make the trip impossible. (However, for the children of God it is usually the Will of God that prevents meetings such as the one that the apostle Paul missed here in 1 Corinthians 1). Hardly do we let indifferences and indecision stand in the way, even if there is a need to be indecisive. In Christ, we like for our yes to someone to be yes and mostly we will do all we can do, to keep our appointments with God’s children in time.

CHALLENGES & COMMENTS – 2 Corinthians 1:15-2:2

In the confidence of being sincere the apostle approaches the current problems he is experiencing in the Corinthian church. I thought I might take a moment and talk to each of us about the confidence we gain with our brothers and sisters in Christ when we are sincere.
Then I think… who am I to discuss this confidence, since confidence in people is a weighty matter.

It is not just being light hearted about things (like a humming bird) that seldom lands for any length of time, how can anyone take confidence in someone who is always on the move. These folks never get to know us, therefore no sincere relationship can develop.

There are also those people who are information gatherers. Like (Sponge Bob) these folks absorb information about everything and everyone. Then in the blink of the eye they squeeze out this juice on others. These also leave with a smirk on their face that says volumes too as they move on to the next person.

I think we should see in the next chapter the full blown problem that the apostle is faced with in the church at Corinth. Now I know we have all experienced the exaggerated developments that stem from being involved with groups of people, especially when someone or two within the group decide to be the crippling or sinful problem.

People do not forgive and move on, yes they forgive in general but let them be reminded of what they forgave and all of the harshness of the event returns. We can and should discuss this much deeper, yet it is deflating to me to think on the subject of forgiveness since the same faults I see in others are the same faults that taunt me. The truth is that if I see a fault in my brother or sister it is because I saw it in myself, FIRST.

There is godly forgiveness, but if it is not done in grace as James explains in his epistle then whatever is done is done in vain.
