The Devotional - 58

The Devotional

Comment:
Our finite mind is not capable of comprehending the mourning that goes on worldwide, we hear reports of mass murders, huge famines, devastating earthquakes, floods, tornadoes, extreme heat waves and storms. All of this leaving grief and mourning in the wake. We also rise up from a day of comfort and find ourselves in a new day, a day of mourning from the shattering death of a loved one or other saddening news. Prayer seems useless, living seems powerless and the struggle to move forward is felt as impossible. No one I know or ever knew is exempt from suffering and hardship. The Old Testament Book of Lamentations has but ONE purpose and that being to describe the events of a decaying nation. The Book does not teach or exhort anyone on how to avoid the suffering and destruction of national ruin. Its intent is to express the grief and explain the horror, bitterness and destruction of a nation already destroyed by God because it forsook the Living GOD for idolatry and immorality, (apostasy).

Challenge: Lamentations
The Author of this Book of the Bible, like all of the Books of the Bible is the Omniscient Creator of the world in which we live and have our being. We call Him God, there is only One God, not many. The writer (not the Author) of the Book of Lamentations is thought to be Jeremiah, a prophet of God, Jewish tradition holds him as the writer.

Lamentations 1:1 – Life in Jerusalem in 586 BC was tragic, nearly non-existing. There are many events in history that are of similar catastrophic results. Deserted streets, destroyed buildings, devastating carnage and diseased rivers and streams. Once a city of thriving people and prosperous adventures, a nation once standing tall among the other nations, but now one that has become a slave to suffering, death and mourning. Jerusalem the Capital of Israel has fallen, who at one time was a governing pillar of success is now to be pitied, but not by God.

Lamentations 1:2 – Bitter weeping, yes if you listen there is little silence in this dead and deserted city. Hidden in the dark and destroyed city are her lovers; those who once said “GOD BLESS JER-USA-LEM” the Land of Freedom and the Home of Brevity! Traitors, whom they thought were friends betrayed them, these were enemies of God and Israel from the start and from their infiltrating roost these enemies changed Israel’s Constitution from the worship of One God, to the liberal gods of apostasy.

I do not seek to be an alarmist over the condition of our beloved country and please forgive me if I sound like one as I express some of my personal thoughts regarding the United States of America and parallel these thoughts with the Book of Lamentations. For one thing Lamentations speaks from the platform of “been there, done that and now look at the mess we are in”! I am writing in hopes to draw our attention to the pending judgment of God on our national departure from “One nation under God” to “multiple cultures under the rule of many gods”.

First I want to be perfectly clear, WE ARE NOT THE UNITED STATES OF THEE AMERICAS! We are at the present time the “UNITED STATES” OF AMERICA period. The merging of nationalities within the confines of our borders is a major and crushing blow to the integrity of our sovereignty. The Americas of the south and north have merged (legally and illegally) and our borders are at the present time blurred in some areas and full of corruption and compromise in other areas. As citizens we are losing hold of our identity and integrity, the result is the loss of our national freedom and independence.

God warned Israel throughout her history to not serve other gods, God also gave our forefathers the mandate to be “One Nation under God”. What part of this did Israel forget or reject, well it does not take a scholar to see that whatever part they forgot or rejected is the same part that we as a nation are doing as well. As a nation we are not at the point where Israel is in the writing of this Book, Jeremiah is writing and weeping after the fact. We need to take time to pray to God, the same God of the Holy Bible for our national trend at the present time is following in the footsteps of Israel as she failed God.

As we continue we will see much parallel of our nation in the reading of Lamentations and we will see many warnings that compare to our present day. Only the fervent prayer of the Righteous will salvage a remnant of the nation since I feel we have already fallen into the bottomless pit of idolatry and immorality and because this is a national collapse the pending judgment of God is imminent. Read if you please the context of as I feel that the apostle speaks directly to the obese conduct of a collapsing nation; James 5:1-20.
