The
Devotional
Comment:
Veterans, are you a veteran? If so I thank you for your
service to OUR country. Our country should demonstrate its thankfulness by
upholding the freedoms we fought and died for, yet and sadly this sort of
pillar of thankfulness is giving way under the pressure of liberal ideologies
of unprincipled men and women. Those who support abortion, same sex marriage
and reject the Constitution of the United States of America. Many of these
people are in places of authority within the country. They willingly and openly
wave the flag, but it is NOT a flag of respect we vets have for our Founding Fathers
and “Ole Betsy”. Ole Betsy proudly waves as a war torn and stained flag with
the blood of many dead and wounded men and women. Today the flag waves without
stains by many people who do not understand WHY or FROM WHERE the wind blows. WHY?
Because this nation has forgotten the Creator. FROM WHERE? Because we the
people are not a people seeking God. We are now following the ill winds of
every evil concept that involves the worship of man and many by choice are
following this evil, Matthew 7:13-14.
Challenge:
John 3:22-36 – Can you imagine being baptized by
the LORD Jesus Christ? If you are saved by grace, then you have been
Spiritually baptized by Him. John the baptizer explains this in John 1 verse
33, “I did not know Him, but He who sent me to baptize with water said to me, ‘Upon
whom you see the Spirit descending, and remaining on Him, this is He who
baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’ And I have seen and testify that this is the
Son of God.” This is another sign among the miracles found in the Gospel of
John.
Spirit baptism and ministry in the Kingdom of God is not by
the will of man. The calling of God is first, “you must be born again/from
above” this is the Spiritual baptism (It is not my intent to speak of water baptism
at this time since we will cross that path later). Just as Spirit baptism is
ordained and blest by God, so too is ministry. Note John 3:27 – Speaking of
water baptism, John disciples ask basically why is Jesus doing what God called
you to do John and John’s reply. “A man can receive nothing (from God) unless
it has been given to him from heaven/ordained from above”.
Just as the friend of the bridegroom shares and rejoices
greatly at the sound of the voice when the bridegroom speaks, so does the
friend give way, we are not the Christ we are His bondservants therefore when
He ordains we listen and where He goes we follow and in every moment we must be
willing to let Him lead. John the Baptizer understood this better than most of
us today with these words. “He must increase, but I must
decrease.
It is also interesting to me that in the original context
(koine Greek) the second must in this passage – John 3:30 is missing.
John understood the limits of his baptism ministry, thus it is mandatory that
every ministry worker ought to seek and allow God to increase in our work, as
it were… To God be the Glory! He is capable of speaking in the authority of His
Kingdom, in the power of the Holy Spirit. Our chatter over this is always
earthly, in other words we seek to glorify God with the finite measurements
known to man, while God speaks from the infinite Wisdom from above.
He who believes in the Son (has this testimony) and have
everlasting life; and he who does not believe (does not have this testimony),
they do not believe in the Son of God/Jesus. They shall not see or be ordained
in His Life, but/because of having no testimony, the wrath of God that began at
the fall over six thousand years ago still remains on those who have not faith
in God’s Son. This wrath abides on all unbelieving people to this very day.
