The Devotional - Do you have eyes that fail to see?

The Devotional

Comment: The Israelites received the Law from God when Moses went up to visit with God at Mount Sinai. If you have read the Exodus account, the very first thing these people did was murmur against God and Moses. “Such a miserable place and no food”. God rained bread (manna) from heaven (grace). Next they sojourned to Rephidim and there was no water, Moses was ordered by God to take his rod and some of the elders and smote the rock at Horeb. God said to Moses, Look, I will stand with you, strike the rock with your rod and water will come out. Moses called the place “contention” and “tested”. Even in this rebellion, God gave water (grace). Do you remember the fear of Israel at the base of MT. Sinai? Earthquakes, fire from heaven and God’s voice. Also they could not touch the mountain or they would die and the Israelites refused to hear the Word of God. They told Moses to go up and speak face to face with God since they could not bear to listen. Exodus 20:18-21. 

Devotional: It is contentious and a complete failure for a people group who claim that they know God, to murmur, complain and refuse to hear the Words of the Living God. People groups our nation may claim God or the gods or even some religious piety, but without the daily study of TRUTH the Holy Bible, they will fail to be sanctified by Truth, God’s Word is TRUTH. John 17:17. 

People who worship and practice religion without TRUTH are like the idols of Psalm 115:1-18 (See verse 8). Speaking of the futility of idolatrous worship the psalmist gives examples. He says that the Name of God is to be glorified because of His Mercy and Truth, that in His Mercy and by His Truth God does whatever He pleases. God makes the “cloud without rain” just as He can make it rain without clouds. Where were we; when God established the clouds above or when He strengthened the fountains of the deep, Proverbs 8:27-29 asks? Rather than taking God’s Word and worship the God who is TRUE, we reject His Mercy (lovingkindness or grace). We complain and murmur over things we should find glorifying to God alone.

Some may say “well, we are a Christian nation, 76 percent of the people polled say they are ‘Christian’ so how can that be?” As simple as it is; turn on the morning news and weather in any small town or major city across this nation and you will hear the weather man say. “mother nature has unleashed another yada, yada, yada!” and we idolatrously agree. Shame on the 95 percent of the nation who agree with these comments of deception. It is God who give life to His Creation and weather is a major part of His Creation, it simply obeys God who does whatever He pleases.

Mankind does not like to hear the Truth, mankind lives in darkness and would rather worship the idol who has no power to deliver, much less speak, see or smell. Romans 1:18-32 fits the picture of our nation and our people group today. We have suppressed TRUTH for the lies of deception by people who actually know the Truth but practice the Lie. Most people seek those who will comfort them with lies because they willingly fear to hear the TRUTH, the Truth that is provided by God through GRACE (Mercy in the Psalms).
