A Daily Devotional – Study – The Eternal Word (35)

A Daily Devotional – Study  – The Eternal Word

Comment: The HORSE is prepared for the day of battle, but deliverance is OF the LORD. Proverbs 21:31 like all of Proverbs, this was not written to read! Say what? This one verse, LIKE ALL OF GOD’S WORD IS PROVIDED, for STUDY and for DILIGENCE, always presenting yourself approved to GOD, rightly dividing the Word of TRUTH, see 2 Timothy 2:15. Most people who consider reading the Holy Bible, do not study, they are not diligent and they are not seeking any approval from God for what their eyes are reading. Outwardly they appear as to seek deliverance by the hand of the LORD and their horse appears ready for battle, but it is the ‘emotional revolt’ that begins in their soul that reveals the profane babblings of defeat – 2 Timothy 2:16.

Devotional: God will never be mocked, we may not do this verbally or outwardly, but when we are faced with the decisions of skillful living and we fall flat on our face, SOMETHING is wrong, is it not? We often look and say we are prepared, yet, when we are put to the test of FAITH we are more like the prepared horse. Now there are many applications to Proverbs 21:31 but there is only one interpretation. God is not looking for an outward appearance of faith, He is looking for personal faith from those who fear Him.

To see this a bit more clearly, we can look at another passage found in the eighteenth chapter of Luke. The context is that of a persistent widow who stands before a judge; one who does not fear God and who does not have any regard for the fellow man. The judge apparently hears the complaint of this widow continually, in other words she will not give up her complaint and she wants restitution. Finally, the unjust judge vindicates the woman. The woman’s horse is prepared for battle, her restitution is granted, but the results are not glorifying to God.

We ought to hear what Jesus has said about the unjust judge; He said of the judge “Hear what the unjust judge said” The process of preparation for the day of battle in this unjust world can be long and tedious, it may also end in failure, even in victory the outcome is often less that what one hopes for. When we study and faithfully apply the Living Word of God, the vain babblings of life disappear.

If you are the ‘elect’ of God by faith in the ‘death and resurrection’ of the Christ/Messiah, God
Himself will avenge us SPEEDILY. Jesus is coming again and in this Luke passage it is clear, Jesus came first to seek and save that which was lost, He is coming again to deliver those who through personal Faith, are prepared in the whole counsel of God (Acts 20:27). We need to study the Word of God and refrain from just reading it. Salvation Justification happens but once, salvation Sanctification is a lifelong process of walking by faith.
