The Devotional – 1455 – The value of knowing

The Devotional – 1455 – The value of knowing
Proverbs 2:5 – Then you will understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.

Comments and challenges
When I was growing up the most one could say about another is that they had a lot of “street smarts” and of course; if not, you could say the person was a “block head” and that would be the dumbest person on the block. In today’s world no one thinks in terms with the neighborhood intellect. Today we are either “worldly wise” or “desert ignorant”. “Land lots of land under the starry skies above and don’t fence me in” These thoughts are no longer popular with people.

Citizens of the United States of America are no longer innocent; in other words our land is not the virgin soil of yesterday. Note the inspired words of King Solomon in Proverbs 2 as he speaks to his son. “My son, if you receive my words” since the king’s words are inspired by God we need to see and apply this truth; that God is speaking to you and me and personally; nationally many of us have rejected the words of God.

Note again: “and treasure my commands within you” when is the last time we as a nation have done that? At least SIXTY-FOUR years ago. Come on now, stay with me here. Maybe even before you were born the citizens of this once great nation began rejecting the treasury of the Wisdom of God, we decided to remove God from our young people so that today on a national scale, we have inherited the wind and lost the ability to discern the wisdom of God.

Now, I know you have heard all of this before and probably a little irritated to hear it or read it again. What do you think that I take pleasure in this? “I do not!” I would much rather share with you the “Pure and Perfect” or in keeping with the context “Innocent” reality of the wisdom and knowledge found in the Living Word of God.

Note again: “If you seek her as silver and search for her as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God” oh my friend and reader of this feeble plea. The true value of life is to know the wisdom and knowledge of God and you can know it. I was born into God’s Family through the Blood of Christ in May 1975, I was ignorant of God and dead to Him through sin. Truly I could barely get by reading or writing.

But God gave me life in Christ, I was dead in trespasses and sins, I walked according to the course of this world, I walked in the spirit of this world along with all the sons of disobedience. I fulfilled the desires of my flesh and was by nature a child of wrath and all along I thought I was humanly good. Well guess what? I was human and good at being a child of sin and wrath. Oh! But God, oh yes; but God who is RICH in mercy, because of His great love with which He loves ALL of us, chose to give me LIFE in His Son. He will chose you too, even while dead in sin; He can and does make us ALIVE with Christ, when we believe the wisdom of God.

So I speak, write and preach CHRIST crucified, I do this through the understanding of the Wisdom that God gives to the Jew, yes Christ is a stumbling block and to the rest of the world Christ is “foolishness” but to those of us who have received God’s Word by faith, we are knowledgeable witnesses of Christ, of His Power and Wisdom. My faith does not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God. For scriptural content see Ephesians 2:1-10 and 1 Corinthians 2:1-16.
