The Devotional – 1508 – Remember!

Psalm 119:49-56 – Remember the word to Your servant, upon which You have caused me to hope. This is my comfort in my affliction, for Your word has given me life. The proud have me in great derision, yet I do not turn aside from Your law. I remembered Your judgments of old, O Lord, and have comforted myself. Indignation has taken hold of me because of the wicked, who forsake Your law. Your statutes have been my songs in the house of my pilgrimage. I remember Your name in the night, O Lord, and I keep Your law. This has become mine, because I kept Your precepts. 

Comments and Challenges: ZAYIN

1.       49 – Remember Your WORD to Your servant, because You gave me Hope.

2.       50 – This is my comfort in my affliction, because Your WORD has revived me.

3.       51 – The arrogant mock me excessively, but I do not swerve from Your LAW.

4.       52 – I remember Your ORDINANCES of old YAHWEH, and have comforted myself.

5.       53 – Indignation has taken hold of me, because of the wicked who forsake your LAW.

6.       54 – Your STATUTES have been my songs, in my house where I live.

7.       55 – I have remembered Your Name in the night YAHWEH, and I obey Your LAW.

8.       56 – This is my way, that I keep Your PRECEPTS.

This section, [ZAYIN] like all the other files in Psalm 119 is loaded with mountains of personal TRUTHS and APPLICATION for anyone who knows JESUS personally. Like for instance “Remember Your Word to me LORD”, immediately I am reminded of Hebrew 13:5, and Joshua 1:5 in that there are many times to become angry; but instead of sinning Our LORD has made provision for us to have righteous anger that should overwhelm us when the wicked do not obey Your LAW. Psalm 119:49-51 and 53.

Why would it be important for you and me to recall the ORDINANCES of old and connect these to our Personal Savior? An ordinance is a standing REGULATION and the ordinances of OLD are the PILLARS of creation, the expressed and visible STATUTE of God. Psalm 19:1-6 comes to my mind; one of the Regulations of Creation is to DECLARE the glory of God. I have never met a MORNING or a SUNSET that failed to glorify GOD. But guess what… I meet men and women all day long who not only fail to recognize CREATION but fail to see the LORD as well. Psalm 119:52 and 55.

A STATUTE is an ABSOLUTE TRUTH needing interpretation and there is NO greater JOY that can be experienced in the SOUL but to have your soul realize TRUTH. I am reminded of – “whom having not seen [known], you love. Though now you do not see Him yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory”. 1 Peter 1:8. It is the word in brackets; known that allows us to gain insight to the LORD and our love for Him who we have not seen. We need to get to KNOW Him, you cannot love someone you do not know. Jesus is the SOLID STATUTE that REJOICES the soul of everyone who gets to KNOW Him

Yes there are many saved people who do not love Jesus; these folks fail to love Him because they fail to study the Living Word of God. How basic is this TRUTH? John 1:14 – “and the WORD became flesh and lived among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of Grace and TRUTH. Did you notice Grace? Well I hope so since “for by grace you have been saved through faith”… Ephesians 2:8, but it is the WORD that leads us to Love JESUS. It is His STATUTES that will become our SONGS in the home where we LIVE, I believe that that home is our SOUL and not our temporal abode; Psalm 119:49, 50 and 54. We could spend much time in this but I must get going and so must you.
