A Daily Devotional – Psalm 119:145-152 – Personal Meditation (19.4)

A Daily Devotional – Psalm 119:145-152 – Personal Meditation

Comment: Now, someone might say; “What does Psalm 119 have to do with spirituality?” That is since most people in the Old Testament were not filled with the Holy Spirit as we are today. Who can argue that case? Since we of the New Testament are convinced that the Old Testament saints were guided spiritually by certain men who were filled by God the Holy Spirit; these are the Priests, Prophets and some kings. Now we do not have time to go into all of this, but I certainly believe that all the writers of the Holy Bible, both Old and New Testament were men and women who were filled with, and directed by the Holy Spirit of God. Such is the writer of Psalm 119, whoever he is. It may be well for us, at this point to notice too; King David’s plea to God after acknowledging his sin in Psalm 51:10-11.

Devotional: Psalm 119:145-152
When meditating in the Word of God, whether it is the Old or New Testament, God the Holy Spirit claims authority, He is the ‘author’. Notice: “God, who at various times and various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets. Has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds (ages). Christ Jesus is the Supreme Being and Revelation to all of mankind. Hebrews 1:1-4.

In order for us to understand anything of the Word of God, we must seek to worship God in Spirit and in Truth. Today’s understanding of Spiritual Worship in most churches is not the study of the Spirit and Truth commands of John 4:23-24 or of the Words of Jesus in Luke 4:18-21. We have rejected the Truth of these passages just as the Jews of Jesus’ day, read the full context of Luke 4:16-37. “Certainly Jesse! you have gone mad!” No, no not at all, the worship of God today in most churches is reduced to spiritual music and emotionalism, this is foolish and nonsense to God.

Look into the Word of the Living, there is no proof in the Old or New Testaments that what we call spiritual worship today is biblical! If this is true and I believe it is, then the effects of this sort of worship can only produce in us an emotional meltdown. As soon as the worship and praise is over, we are back those sins that grieve the Holy Spirit of God (Ephesians 4:30) Which are the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh and the pride of life, of 1 John 2:15-16.

Now of course there are other ways in which the devil steals our fellowship with God. His main course of action is found in in our mind, see the list we reviewed yesterday. We are called to be in a Spiritual state at all times, notice the fuller context of 1 John 2:12-17. We have overcome the world; the darkness of the world is replaced by the Light of Christ. We are called to walk in the Light, yet when we harbor personal sins within our mind, these will quench the Holy Spirit of God (1 Thessalonians 5:19).

The deceptions in these last days are large, the victory over this is to let Truth, through the indwelling Holy Spirit be your Guide. We must study and meditate on the Word. We have the anointing of the Holy Spirit, use what you have and thereby, Glorify God 1 John 2:24-27 and do not be deceived by the deceptions of this last hour, 1 John 2:19-23.
