A Daily Devotional – Personal Faith – Personal Meditation
Comment: Instruction for living? Who is
interested in such a thing as that? We seek to be instructed in on how to be
professionals or technicians; we even seek to be taught to drive or operate
machinery. We become experts in various fields of management, politics and
religion. Yet, we fail continually to be instructed in the skill of living with
one another in mercy or justice. Daily we are conflicted with striving,
quarreling, brawling or allowing someone to draw us away from that which is right.
Proverbs
20:3 – It is honorable for a man to STOP striving, SINCE any fool can start a
quarrel. All men and women in any field or profession can be at the top
of their profession or career, but they are fools if they cannot control their
behavior or personal thoughts and tongue.
Devotional: John
7:25-36 – We tend to look at the people in the events of Christs’ ministry on
earth as unlearned people. In fact, if you have seen any of the movies that
center on the ministry of The Christ on earth, they are portrayed as uneducated
people, beggars or thieves who have lost their way. Our mindset is; educated or
professional people would never be responsible for the crucifixion or brutal
treatment of God’s Son. To this I say… Bah! Humbug!
Did the leaders of the Jewish religion professionally know,
that the Messiah was coming? Well the answer is simple. Men like Philip and
Nathaniel were looking for the Messiah, see John 1:43-51 as were two of the
disciples of John the baptizer; see John 1:35-42, one of these was Andrew,
Peter’s brother. Nicodemus, in John 3:1-21 was knowledgeable that Messiah was
coming as was the woman at the well in John 4. All of these people were
responsible professionals of one trade or another, but their behavior was
foolish, as they were foolish and sinful, just as we are today.
So it is with every person who encounters the living
God. God, who is interested in how good you are at what you do in life as a
career; but is more INTERESTED in how our SOUL responds to loving Him with our whole
heart, mind and soul and loving our neighbor as ourselves (Matthew 5:43 and
Romans 13:9). To have a feast, such as the Feast of Tabernacles
requires professionals of all types, from those who organize to those who
protect and clean up, even the leaders of the feast who are the religious Jews.
Yes, The Messiah/Jesus attended the feast, but on the last day of the feast he
stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let
him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the scripture has said, out
of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” But this He spoke
concerning the Holy Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the
Holy Spirit was not yet given… See John 7:37-39.
