A Daily Devotional – Psalm 62 – Personal Meditation (3)

A Daily Devotional – Psalm 62 – Personal Meditation

Comment: King David records the inner attitude of his heart (soul). Now the thought could be, does he do this for the benefit of the reader, or for himself and his relationship with God? Secondly, most of the Psalms written by David were songs, but first; these songs were daily meditations between David and his salvation (The LORD). Do you meditate with God daily? Surely most of us do, but I would say, like as to myself there is much trouble in my tent, where my soul is presently housed for improvement. It is the soul that houses the Holy Spirit, it is the soul that ought to be clothed in the Righteousness of Christ. the tabernacle (tent), that is this body of flesh is temporal and sinfully worthless. When this worthless tent is no longer needed, God will call His soul back to Him. God will not be concerned with what is in our ‘temporal wallet’, but He is concerned for the eternal state and what is in your soul.
Devotional: David, King of Israel was not some super human or a one man show of bravado. He was a human and full of internal conflicts. He was bullied by his seven older brothers, was sought after by king Saul who wanted to kill him. David’s own heart was bent on sin, just as yours and mine. He lied and cheated his friends and neighbors. He committed adultery and murdered Uriah the husband of Bathsheba. David’s own sons turned against him and sadly David witness their death.
Still and even so, David’s heart remained steadfast after God and the psalms of David reveal to you and me that while we live in this temporal world among other temporal people we will be tempted and tried to live. That is to live no differently than king David. We can however, be calm and resolved to wait upon the LORD for Him to deliver us. It is only when king David took his eyes off of His salvation that he lost his focus on the heart of God.
The same God who delivered king David through life and death, through trial and error is the same God who will and does deliver you and me. Do not set your heart on the temporal conditions of this world, do not trust in oppression. Oppression is not an action word of ‘trust’, but it is one of fear, do not vainly hope in robbery or bribes. But set your heart to search out God. God speaks peace and safety through MERCY.
The power that brings salvation to all mankind is realized in Jesus Christ. Jesus is not a super human or simply a man of unique bravado. Jesus is the Christ, He is Messiah and there is no other salvation than that which is found in Him, see acts 4:11-12.
