Comment: Brethren,
my heart’s desire and prayer to God for them (Israel/Church) is that they may be saved. It is
clear the apostle Paul is directing our attention to Israel, but the word for
Israel that Paul uses in Romans 10:1 is not Israel it is “them” so I have
extended this thought of Paul to include the current church of God to say this;
“not all of those of the church are the Church and thus, I use the thought of
the apostle again; see Romans 9:6. But it is not that the word of God has taken
no effect. For they are not all Israel/Church who are of Israel/Church. The
true church of God is made up of people who by “personal faith” have believed the gospel of God.
Devotional: The gospel is the same for Israel as it is for
the church, in the epistle written to the Hebrews (Israel) the writer has a lot
to say about God’s perfect revelation, His exalted Son, our perfect salvation
which brings many sons to glory through trusting God by faith. The Son of God
was faithful to His Father and we are personally called to be faithful to the
Father, though Christ. This faith is our own and it is God the Holy Spirit that
speaks to our soul and calls us trust God. This
is a quick overview of Hebrews 1 through 3. While the epistle is primarily to the Jew whom
the writer encourages, it also encourages the gentile reader to look to Jesus
Christ the Messiah who is the same “Yesterday, Today and Forever!” Hebrews 13:8.
God does not change, yet
people who do not know God by personal faith and have never tasted goodness of
God seek to change God to fit in their ignorant and devilish image of idolatry; 2 Corinthians 4:4 – whose minds the god of this age has blinded,
who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is
the image of God, should shine on them. I have a burden for the church, it
seems to me that the church today is suffering.
If you
take the time to read and meditate on Revelation 2 through Revelation 3; that
is, if you prayerfully meditate on these two chapters of past and current
church history, you will find the church that fits your present understanding
of faith. If that faith is not routed in Revelation 2:8-17 or Revelation 3:7-13,
you should make a change. Not only will you be glad you did, but God will also
be glad. Now do not close the door on this if you find yourself in a less than
perfect church; see and heed Revelation 2:7; 2:11-12; 2:16-17; 2:26-29; 3:5-6; 3:12-13;
and 3:19-22. All seven churches could draw closer to God as there are none
perfect.
