The
Devotional – 1058 – Foot steps in First Corinthians, ongoing
If
a person joins a military branch of service they are given new clothing to
wear, a new way to maintain their hair and a set of regulations to live by; of
course this analogy falls a bit short of the mark since as a tax payer the military
person has paid some of the way for his or her new life-style. However, when we
respond to the heavenly calling of God in Christ Jesus and become partakers of
faith (Philippians 3:3 and Hebrews 3:1-2) we see that God has paid the way and
has also given, along with a new way of life, a duffle bag full of spiritual
redemption in Christ.
CHALLENGES & COMMENTS – 1
Corinthians 12:1-11
You
may be thinking… what does all of this have to do with 1 Corinthians and I say,
everything pertaining to life and godliness pertains to 1 Corinthians, so hang
on to your salvation helmet.
The
words “in Christ” are found thirty-six times in the epistle of Ephesians, we
will take a look. Before we can get out of verse 1 we find #1, “saints who are faithful IN CHRIST
JESUS. By the time we reach verse three we see #2, “Blessed be the God and Father of our LORD Jesus Christ, who has
blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in CHRIST JESUS.
What
are these spiritual blessing? From verse 4 through verse 14 we find a precious
field of holy attributes that were prepared by God before the world was set on its
foundation. The scripture is CLEAR, in Him we are; chosen, blameless, adopted,
accepted, redeemed, forgiven, and given an inheritance, predestined and sealed
in Him by the Holy Spirit.
Also,
He has made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good
pleasure, which He purposed in Himself by giving us wisdom and understanding in
the dispensational fullness of time. Now I know we have heard this before, but
if we might only “grasp” the value of this, we might strive to show up in Bible
Study more often. There is not a better place for the child of God to be than
to understand the fullness of being – IN CHRIST.
This
partial spiritual endowment is worth far more than the entire riches of the
riches person on the earth today. If you are IN CHRIST and do not know this, I for
one am saddened, since you are like the servant that Jesus spoke of in Matthew
25:14-30 who hid his talent, we are to know and use God’s resources that He has
given to us.
The
duffle bag of the military person weighs about sixty pounds when full, its
worth to the military person is about $400.00, maybe $600.00 in our current
economy, if the partial spiritual endowment of being in Christ were just
material gold it would be worth over $11,520,000. Now we have only covered TWO of
the times that IN CHRIST shows up and already we are spiritually more
prosperous than those of the kingdom of this world which is perishing. Can you
imagine how much God loves you and me? Well I have to go now, see you on
Monday.
