The
Devotional – 1062 – Foot Steps in First Corinthians, on going
Many
people react to living in every insensible way imaginable. The writer of Psalm
119 explains this in the following verse. Verse 70 reads: Their heart is as fat
as grease, but I delight in Your Law. Now you should be thinking… What has that
sentence got to do with anything pertaining to being in Christ? Very much! Very
much indeed. I believe that all of the children of God know that he has dealt
with us very well, that in accordance with His Word the LORD has shown us great
grace. No doubt our sins, are so great that we should not be writing or reading,
but maybe lamenting or mourning. Yet He continues to teach us His wonderful
Judgments. Why? Because we believe His Commands, His Statutes and His Precepts.
We discern that the Statutes and the Law of the LORD are better than thousands
of coins of gold and silver.
CHALLENGES & COMMENTS – 1
Corinthians 13:1-13
One
of the visible pictures of the comment above is actually found in 1 Corinthians
13. How does the world view these 13 verses of the Living Word of God? In the
world, love is emotional, physical and often as unstable as one’s feelings. Thus
the world and the religions of the world are restricted to understanding 1
Corinthians 13 to the “gut” the term “fat as grease”. The Hebrew word for “fat”
means to “be stupid” and the word for “grease” (used only this once) is “fat of
the best kind” rich fat!
So
here it is: The world misses the mark and many believers do as well; speaking
with the tongues of men and angels are NOT evidence of love, but are a reaction
of being very rich in stupidity if one does not have an understanding of the
love of God.
The
apostle Paul extends the thought of this to all the temporary gifts of the
Spirit of God in the remaining verses; prophesies, mysteries and knowledge, he
adds that even faith is dependent on the emotions of an individual if it is
founded on the emotional “hub” of living for God, rather than the faith found
in Hebrews 11:1-3.
Whatever
you and I do, give away personal goods, feed every person we meet who needs a
meal, or sacrifice our life for the good of humanity and do not understand the “love”
of God, the profit of this actions is for NOTHING. So if this is true and it
is, how do I know the difference? The love we have from God is not, of the
world; period!
It
is arrogant by parading abilities that one does not have, love never behaves
rudely, it does not keep accounts for evil purposes. Love endures ALL things,
it believes the TRUTH and while other things of spiritual life, even life
itself will fail; love does not fail, God’s love is eternal. Our lives are full
of failures of all kinds. Physical, Spiritual and mental failure is around us
CONSTANTLY. Why? Come on now! Our finite mind is only temporal at best. The
Word of God teaches us to LOVE eternally.
The
world clings to emotional expressions of faith, hope and love; emotion like a
wave of the sea crashes on the beach of sand and disappears, absorbed in the
grit of time and disappointment. But God has a permanent plan of faith, hope
and love which is protected in the salvation helmet of His love.
