The Devotional - The conduct of the pagan

The Devotional

Comment: All religions ascribe to some form of deity, still all of religion falls short of the Fear of the LORD. Religion has its own set of ordinances and commands to follow, systems of no respect, no fear and no personal power. God never asks His Creation to worship itself, yet fallen mankind is full of this idolatry, God has never allowed His Creation to overstep the law and order of species. All are created after their own kind and for the last six to seven thousand years Creation has obeyed God’s Law of Creation. There is an exception! The exception falls into the responsibility of mankind who religiously rejects Genesis 1:1-31 and 2:1-2, also read Romans 1:18-31, where we easily see that idolatry’s sidekick is immorality.

Devotional: Psalm 119:148-152 – Most of us today as children of God know what momentary light affliction is, a bad day at the office or even a good day at the office can be affliction, it simply depends on the critical eye of those watching us. The psalmist might be willing to trade off a day or two for your moments of light persecution, fact is I know he would be willing. His incarceration is surrounded by men who are idol worshippers and immoral pagans.

The Hebrew words in many of the sections of scripture of Psalm 119 are pointed directly at the pagan idolatry and immoral conduct of his captures. The KJV of Psalm 119:150 reads: “They (pagans) draw nigh that follow after mischief; they are far from your Law.” We might say “what law?” It is not the law of “Thou shall not murder” but the law of order in creation and the mischief the psalmist speaks of is immorality.

(148-149) – Believe it or not we are around pagan idolatry and immorality all day long but by the mercies of God we are not tortured with it as the psalmist is. If we were we would prepare to meet the coming day as this man does. “My eyes are awake through the night watches that I may meditate on Your Word. Hear my voice according to Your Lovingkindness O LORD, revive me according to Your Justice.

Having the foreknowledge of observing his captures, experiencing their cruel and abusive treatment he knows what any day can bring forth. Many times we also know what the next day may bring upon us, yet even if we do not know and the unexpected comes. God is a very present help in time of need, even though the earth be removed. God is our refuge and strength – Psalm 46:1-11. Let me just add that if we are not meditating on God and His word and preparing for the day ahead, we may face this trial in the flesh with the flesh.

(151-152) – Meditation brings God near, God does not melt into a cloud of confusion for His children during such times of suffering. He draws near and the truth and detail of His Commandments are as bright as the stars in the heavens on a dark night. How old are the testimonies of God? These reach back into eternity do they not? Wisdom speaks in Proverbs 8:22 – The LORD possessed me at the beginning of His way, before His works of old. I have been established from everlasting. From the beginning before there ever was an earth.
