A Daily Devotional – Psalm 119:1-8 – Personal Meditation (1)

A Daily Devotional – Psalm 119:1-8 – Personal Meditation

Comment: Psalm 119 is daily interesting to my soul, there are not many days that go by that my wife and I fail to read a section of this psalm. The psalm is personal meditation of life’s moment with and without God. Each section of eight verses is one day in the life of the writer and each verse describes the writer’s natural and spiritual walk, or his approach to life on any given day. So, “how is your day going” at this moment in time? Thankfully, you do not have to explain it to me, but ‘all’ of us ought to know that moment by moment God knows our heart, thus our conversation with Him should be, unceasing!

Devotional: To be defiled is to be stained, to be filthy or even profane. We do not like the thought of our character to be identified in this way. Our first warning is our conscience, it may remind us from time to time that our inner character is less than ‘blameless’. The law of the LORD is the same as His will. Therefore, in order to be blameless before our God, we must walk in His testimonies.

All testimonies of the LORD are revealed by the Spirit of God. One is found in Romans 8:1-4, which is to walk in the Spirit. The apostle reveals that “In Christ” there is no defilement, thus no condemnation to those in Christ who walk, according to, the will of God, that is, in the Spirit, the law of the Spirit has set us FREE from the law of sin and death. See verse three of our Psalm.

Through the LORD’s death as the Lamb of God and by His resurrection as the Son of God; and for those of us who by personal faith, believe and trust God at His Word. We know that we are to keep these precepts of living Truth diligently. In placing this statute of Truth in our soul by faith, we can realize the joy as our soul says to the LORD. “Oh, that my ways were directed to keep Your statutes”.

There is no shame when the child of God looks in the Spirit to the commandments of God, we know this the moment we observe these Truths and our heart is overwhelmed with joy and praise. Shame is always the result when our heart turns away from the statutes of our Personal God we become ‘downtrodden’ our walk is no longer blameless, we are defiled in the Way. At this time in the day when we have turned away from the LORD our soul will cry, “Oh, do not utterly forsake me!” we must return to Him, see Joshua 1:5 and Hebrews 13:5.
