The
Devotional – 1475 – The Truth Never Changes
Psalm
119:9-18 – How can a
young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word. With my whole
heart I have sought You; Oh, let me not wander from Your commandments! Your
word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You! Blessed are
You, O Lord! Teach me Your statutes! With my lips I have declared all the
judgments of Your mouth. I have rejoiced in the way of Your testimonies, As
much as in all riches. I will meditate on Your precepts, And contemplate Your
ways. I will delight myself in Your statutes; I will not forget Your word. Deal
bountifully with Your servant, That I may live and keep Your word. Open my eyes, that I may see Wondrous things from Your law.

THURSDAY THROUGH SATURDAY I WILL BE AWAY, THE DEVOTIONALS
WILL CONTINUE ON MONDAY, JUNE 23, 2014 IF THE LORD WILLS OR TARRIES
Speaking
of the long suffering (tarry) of the LORD, I was reading in John Gill’s
exposition of the Bible on the Book of Hosea and he noted that Hosea was
written in 3196 A.M. or more commonly around 800 B.C. and in thinking about
this and I do not know if it is factual or not but if you add the 800 years to
3200 (rounding off the years to the nearest 10) we are looking at; from
Creation to the Birth of Christ to be around 4,000 years from the creation of
Adam. Currently we are at 2014 or roughly 6,000 years from the Creation of
Adam; Jesus is coming again!
Thus
it is my hope to challenge us this morning to be “Be sober and vigilant”; this
a Konia Greek military command found in 1 Peter 5:8. The world we live in makes
great strides to put on the false face of sobriety, yet the world is “drunk”
with the sin of “pride”. Also the world we live in is not vigilant to the
spiritual conflict that the apostle Peter is focused on in his epistle – 1
Peter 5:1-11.
As
saints of God and I specifically mean that remnant of human beings who have
trusted in the “Good News” that Jesus Christ as promised; died as the Sacrificial
LAMB of God to take away the SIN of world (John 1:29) and who Literally arose
from the grave (Matthew 24:7) as He also promised. These are the saints of God,
man cannot make another man a saint; only God makes saints and He calls them
His children or sheep – John 10:7-18
We
are responsible as living sacrifices (sheep for the slaughter) Romans 8:18-39 then
to God to be self-controlled and watchful. If we lack in being responsible or
if we allow our ways to be like that of the world, the responsibility of God
the Holy Spirit is not one of leading us down the Spiritual Path, but is now
become the disciplined path of correcting the wrong. The world should only look
good the unbeliever, when it becomes appealing to the believer he are she is
one hundred percent under the same conviction as that of the world.
What
is the conviction: a love for the world, rather than a love for God: 1 John
2:15-17 the unbelieving and the carnal believer is practicing a temporal love
which will pass away, while the self-controlled and vigilant believer is
participating in a loving relationship with God who abides forever. Now I know
you are thinking; “the weak believer has an eternal relationship with God the
Father through Christ!” and yes he or she does. But I say this… why allow the
devil to destroy the rewards of a good work, like your testimony to your
children, parents or church family. This work will also carry into eternity – 1
Corinthians 3:1-23 and I especially like verses 18-23. So do not glory in the
work of the world’s men, why? Because you belong to Christ and Christ is God.
