The Devotional
Comment:
The love of God is rich and pure,
words taken from Fredrick M. Lehman in a hymn he wrote around 1917. God’s love
was measureless and strong then, just as it is today. Just shy of 100 years ago
he penned this wonderful song, but really songs of praise and worship directed
at God have filled the earth throughout the entirety of time and history. Also songs
of praise and worship will go on into the future because the LORD God is the
same yesterday, today and forever. God Loves us, thus we should be humble
before Him and receive the blessing of His continual love, not daily or
periodically as some might perceive; but moment by moment being willing to say,
“Moment by moment, O LORD I am Thine.” A hymn written by Daniel W. Whittle.
Challenge:
James 1:21
In our day we have understood
to have everything “supersized” like the burgers and fries at the fast food
places and if that is not enough, when the gasoline prices go down we upsize
our vehicles. Should we stop at this point, no! Not just yet since the average
waist line for most people male and female exceeds 36 inches, oops! We like it
large in the United States of America. Is this good? Some would say “Yea man!
Bring it on, bring it on!
The King James Version of the
Holy Word of God reveals the filthiness of mankind as “superfluity” it is the
only time this English word is found and used in the KJV. In the NKJV the
translators use the word “overflow” meaning abundance. Why then am I making an
issue of these words, James, the apostle is writing to believers in Jesus
Christ and he is saying that we believers are constantly overflowing with the abundance
of sin in our personal life. If I could say so, we are obese with sin seeking
to stand before our Holy God, James say STOP!
Even as children of God, if
we could truly see our personal standing before the LORD God as God sees us
moment by moment, how is that His love for you and me stays so rich and pure?
Truly I will not get beyond James 1:21 today since many churches in the United
States of America do not teach the abundance of God Mercy that has put to death
the abundance of all of the personal sin of the world. Just the personal sin of
one person in one day is super beyond the human mind to consider. Now apply
that to all the believers you know, O my, my emotions cannot contain the
thought.
We need to downsize do we
not? This is what the apostle James says in the last half of this verse. Instead
of walking in our boastful pride of life, we need to humble “downsize” our
standing before the LORD and receive from Him the implanted Word. Another word
that is used by the King James Version only once and found in James 1:21 is the
word “engrafted” the NKJV uses the word “implanted”, refreshing and living
power! The power to overcome the abundance of daily sin. Only the Word of God
is capable to deliver our souls from the conduct of our flesh.
Therefore. Be diligent to
present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly
dividing the Word of Truth – 2 Timothy 2:15. I will not be sending out a
devotional of Fridays from this point on.
