The Devotional - 128 - Fear and Wisdom

Thought for the Day – 128 – Fear and Wisdom!

Proverbs 6:12-19 – Throughout the Living Word of God you fine these words; “The Fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom” I understand this in this way. Those who do not read and accept the Truth of God’s Holy word are intelligently STUPID. A condition of the world in which humanity remains wise in its own eyes and does not depart from evil and lives in ill health, Proverbs 3:7-8.

Comments and challenges

Today we can wrap up Mark 1:40-45 and I am reminded that Mark enjoys writing about healings and casting out demons. Sometimes these events are taken wrongly by folks who read the gospels as they begin to look for this sort of attraction in everyday living. Some church leaders build their ministries around healings and exorcism and some church leaders are so scared of this subject that they will all but snuff out the flame that faith in God is to develop in one’s soul.

I certainly do not have the answer to why the Church of Jesus Christ suffers from these extreme conditions and I am not here to move anyone to one side of the issue or to the other, this is God’s business. Looking at leprosy today is not the way this disease was looked at in the days of the Old Testament. Just a side mention here; which I believe is relevant. The gospels; Matthew, Mark, Luke and John; including Acts 1:1-8 are Old Testament.

It is not until Jesus is ascended into heaven and the Holy Spirit is descended to earth that the church doctrines begin to take root and the dispensation of grace begins. This is a total of fifty days from the day of His Resurrection from dying for the SIN of the world. Throughout the three and one half years of the ministry of Jesus Christ and the transition from the Jewish Dispensation to the Dispensation of Grace (the church) we have events that reveal that the kingdom of heaven is at HAND (near).

Also, I would like to add that each of these bullet type comments of Mark are packed with truth about God’s kingdom and for anyone to spend quality time unpacking these comments of his could spend a lifetime searching out the matter and still not complete the work. For example; leprosy in the Old Testament was like a curse even though it was only a disease. People who developed this condition were place outside the camp and quarantined from the rest of the people. Yet leprosy is still a common condition in the world, but it is treatable and curable today.

So then a disease like leprosy represents the condition of the world we live in. A world that is infected with another condition that God calls SIN, so just what is or does this condition look like. Here is one definition found in 1 Corinthians 6:9-11.

“Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the LORD Jesus and by the Spirit of our God”.

Therefore, I see the diseases of the world today as a reflection of the condition of the heart of mankind. Just as we do not like to talk about AIDS, CANCER and other related illnesses, we also do not like to talk about homosexuals, thieving and other SINS. These scare people in church leadership who cause some to speak too boldly or too candidly and thus limit the freedom speak of the kingdom of God and the Holy Spirit is over cooked in some ministries and undercooked in other ministries.
