The Devotional – 1424 – Twisted

The Devotional – 1424 – Twisted

Proverbs 19:3 – The foolishness of a man “twists” his way, and his heart frets against the LORD.

 Comments and challenges

Sometimes I find myself longing for days gone by instead of pursuing one day at a time and being like the apostle Paul who says in Philippians 3:14 – I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling God in Christ Jesus. It seems to me that the days past were simpler when as a younger believer I was not surrounded by so much evidence of evil. This brings to mind of at least two battles that are raging in the universal church of God and the above verse in Proverbs helps me to identify the battles.

(1)     The way of many churches these days is nothing more than religious foolishness

(2)     Many saints of God are not walking in accord with the Holy Spirit, therefore they fret against the LORD

The New King James Version uses the word “twists” and the King James Version uses “perverteth” and the New International Version uses the word “folly” here in Proverbs 19:3, so I am beginning to feel the hairs on the back of my neck being called to attention. Bear with me a moment or two here. If we all use different interpretations of the Holy Bible will this cause any confusion?

Or, is one version better than the other? Should I become so rigid about my version over your version that I break away from fellowship and isolate myself from the congregation? Not every pastor/teacher knows that he is called both to pastor and teach the flock. In fact I know of some churches who call the music director the pastor of music or a counsellor the assistant pastor.

These we call churches and yes these are congregations, but these are definitions of the ecclesiastical framework of the modern day church, and yet these are NOT biblical definitions. Our churches today are “twisted” “perverted” or “folly” and many in the congregation have become dull of hearing and are presently “fretting against the LORD, that term “fretting” means “rage”. How does one rage against the “body of Christ”?

I must stop! I just heard that a friend and co-worker of Louise went to be with the LORD during the night and cannot continue at the present time…
