The Devotional - 156 - Preparation vs. Responsibility

The Devotional – 156 – Preparation vs. Responsibility

Proverbs 16:1-2 The preparations (plans) of the heart of man, belong to man (responsibility), but the answer of the tongue is from the LORD (consequence). Humanly, we are right in the things we do, but it is God who tests the integrity of our good and evil results.

Comments and Challenges

Ever notice how important you think you are? It seems to me that every now and then I find myself thinking that I'm okay and the guy next to me is bum. Someone once said that they did not mind people saying bad things about him. In fact; he encouraged it, “say what you want since I know me and you do not”.

This reasoning of knowing self; better than they knew him is actually the problem of seeing others as the bum. Romans 2:1 Therefore you are inexcusable, O man, whoever you are who judge, for in whatever you judge another you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same thing.

That is really the common way of life for most of us, on the outside we look pious while on the inside we look like the homeless soul who has little clothing and no place to rest his or her aching bones. And yes this is the condemning problem with our SOUL since in many of us our love for people is out of focus since our measuring stick base on an inch of “ME”, a foot of “MY SELF” and a yard of “I”.

Also we base our love for one another on outward body language and superficial appearance, this love is based on performance but in our heart of hearts where we live there are those secret creeping thoughts of (I am better than you) that no other human knows. Only you and God share these confidential things and it is God who determines wages given to the character of both the fool the righteous.

Mark 8:11-12

Mark 8:11-12 – Religion is performance based and extremely untrustworthy. Some churches thrive on performance, one that gets me every time is the man who walks about on the platform with several people kneeling in front of him and ever so often he stops in front of one person and bops the person up-side the head and they fall down. Heeled of some infirmity, but injured because of the “bop” knocked them to the floor.

Well that may be a bit of a stretch, usually there is someone following the “bopper” and standing behind the one being “bopped” to catch them. Well I simply ask you… is this biblical do we read any such thing in any book in the Holy Bible. So then why do people look for a “sign” to prove God is who He says He is? Mark says that Jesus “sighed deeply in His spirit” and said, “why does this generation seek a sign? Assuredly, I say to you, no sign shall be given to this generation.

That statement is as true today as when Jesus spoke around A.D. 32. Matthew in his gospel records a reference from Isaiah 9 that explains that this generation along with all generations of the world, they have seen the only sign necessary to know that God is. Notice Matthew 4: 16 or Isaiah 9:2. The people who sat in darkness saw a Great Light, and upon those who sat in the region and shadow of death, Light has dawned”. Read your Holy Bible, the Bible is the only Light needed!
