The Devotional
Comment:
Have you ever heard of INS Vikramaditya? Most of us have
not! Truth is for the very first time today I am reading about this refurbished
Russian built modern war machine. It is India’s 45,000 ton aircraft carrier. It
served in the Soviet Navy in 1987 through 1996 when it was decommissioned for
being too expensive to operate. India purchased the ship for a mere sum of 2.35
billion dollars. Is this information pertinent for this morning? I am looking
at articles from the U.S. Naval Institute magazine, March 2015 issue of seventy
countries worldwide that are seeking to develop larger and stronger navies. With
the exception of one of these navies all have the mindset to be as brave as the
sun, which is the English translation of “Vikramaditya”.
Challenge:
The one nation that is not at the
moment rebuilding is Ukraine. At the present time the leaders of Ukraine and its
naval forces are assessing loses in recent conflicts with Russia. The article states
that 12,000 out of 15,000 navy personnel of the Ukrainian Navy defected to
Russia or were reassigned to the Russian Navy and this is the point of our
challenge this morning. If I understand this, the Ukrainian Navy consists of
only 3,000 members.
A small remnant of faithful men and
women remain to rebuild a naval force in a country pilfered by the aggression
of the giant (Russia) next door. Here in the U.S.A. we share various thoughts
about this, many of whom could care less and say poor Ukraine, or others who do
care and they say poor Ukraine also. With arms folded and fingers crossed we
ignore the obvious.
This same mindset about our national
security is spreading into the heartland of the U.S. and I would like to use an
article written by the apostle John that Jesus relayed to the Sardis church in
Revelation. I do so because we as a nation were once identified as a godly
nation; Christian that is in case you have forgotten. So as once a national
congregation of God conscious people, I believe that the LORD Jesus may just
say this to us - Revelation 3:1-6
"And to the angel of the church in Sardis write, 'these
things says He who has the seven Spirits of God and the seven stars: "I
know your works, that you have a name that you are alive, but you are dead. Be
watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die, for I
have not found your works perfect before God. Remember therefore how you have
received and heard; hold fast and repent. Therefore if you will not watch, I
will come upon you as a thief, and you will not know what hour I will come upon
you. You have a few names even in Sardis who have not defiled their garments;
and they shall walk with Me in white, for they are worthy. He who overcomes
shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the
Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Father and before His
angels. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the
churches." ' Just replace Sardis with the initials – U.S.!
Absurd you say! We have given up our bravery to those who
look to sun and moon as their gods, we have given up our freedom for the
intoxicating perfume of the harlot who has covered her nakedness and filth. With
the offerings of peace and safety (the husband ((GOD)) is out of town) therefore
it is warm and cozy in the tapestry of her bed linen. In the reading of
Proverbs 7 we the U.S. are the ox for slaughter or the fool in shackles;
Proverbs 7:22.
