The Devotional Jhn13

The Devotional

Comment: For many folks, discouragement and a lack of fulfillment is a commonality in life, even though we pursue the dream. Often I will ask someone in sincerity, “How are you doing today?” and from some are “I’m livin the dream!” in my mind the words “liar, liar, pants on fire” pop up. I will think also, “what might I do to brighten the spirits of this person?” The infinite Wisdom of God is able to discern the thoughts of every man, woman and child, so while we might be able to fool each other about the way things really are. God knows and understands the reality of our day, so then He is truly our only hope of fulfilling our dreams. He is the Perfect source of brightening our spirits and having Him direct our path is better than the multitude of plans in a person’s heart that continually fail. Proverbs 16:3 – Commit your works to the LORD, and your thoughts will be established.

Challenge: John 4:12-26 – (John 4:15-18) – The woman said to Him. “Sir, give me this water that I may not thirst, nor come here to draw.” Jesus said to her, “Go, call your husband and come here (back). The woman answered and said “I have no husband.” Jesus said to her, “You have well said (did not lie), ‘I have no husband,’ for you have had five husbands, and the one you now have is not your husband; in that you spoke truly.”

Wow! Imagine speaking to someone who knows already the answer to their questions to you, before you give it! Many think that God in the Person of Jesus Christ is a “crackpot” or a religious “zealot” but notice immediately the woman’s response, “I perceive you are a prophet” then after another conversation of the LORD about true worship, the woman moves closer to the Person sitting at the well, “I know that the Messiah is coming” (who is called the Christ, ((Christ is the Greek word for Messiah)).

“When He comes, He will tell us all things” (remember Jesus had just told her all the things of her personal life) so her mind is thinking. Who is this setting here? The question in her mind will be put to rest by the Words of God Himself. “I who speak to you am He.” The way He answers her may seem odd, but the purpose of the LORD is to help her identify Him from the background knowledge that she has learned from her childhood. When Moses asked God. “What is Your Name and who shall I say sent me?” the light of the gospel of God turned on for her.

Exodus 3:13-15 – Then Moses said to God, "Indeed, when I come to the children of Israel and say to them, 'The God of your fathers has sent me to you,' and they say to me, 'What is His name?' what shall I say to them?" And God said to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM." And He said, "Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, 'I AM has sent me to you.' " Moreover God said to Moses, "Thus you shall say to the children of Israel: 'The Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you. This is My name forever, and this is My memorial to all generations.'

Folks, we people of the United States of America need to return to the “Great I Am” His memorial still stands tall among all of the religious nonsense of today. If we do not, we will suffer the dispersion our great nation, just as Israel did when King Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon sized Jer-usa-lem in his day. We are not far from this dispersion, the hand writing is on the wall.
