The Devotional - A Look at the Book #720

by Jesse Abel
Ecclesiastes 3:8 – A time to love and a time to hate; a time of war and a time of peace. Under the motivation and guidance of the Holy Spirit, Solomon puts four principles of life together for deep contemplation. Not for just a day out of every year, but for every moment of freedom. Thank you! Men and Women of the United States of America’s Military; Thank You!

The Prophet Jeremiah laces his books with many promises, or what we can call pivotal challenges. These promises are encouragement to every reader, God has preserved His Word for this very purpose and if you are a saint and avoid reading the Prophets, Priests and Kings of the Old Testament then you are missing out on Jesus the Messiah.

Every writer of the Old Testament testifies of the out working of God in their life and in the lives of the people Israel. These men still speak to us today even though they are dead and buried so we might ask a question or two of why they still speak. The number one answer is that God is not dead and the number two answer is that the promises and challenges of the Holy Bible are very much alive. The writer of Hebrews talks of entering into the “Rest” of God through the promises of God. He does this by the encouraging challenge to allow the Word of God to discover our condition of Spiritual life. Hebrews 4:12

Jeremiah puts this challenge to us in another way, “Call unto Me and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not, Jeremiah 33:3 KJV. Think about this for a brief moment, if the Word of the Living God was not energized by the Holy Spirit every moment of every day, then the Holy Bible would be no more effective than any other so-called sacred writing that false religions are seeking to peddle in their churches, temples and mosques.

War, peace, love and hate are spoken of in the Holy Bible and these have a solid footing in every national and personal life. Why? Because the world around us is subject to; Satan, Sin and Death; God’s promises offer to every man, woman and child release from this. Speaking to Israel and to all who will call upon the LORD, God says through the prophet Jeremiah.

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with your heart” Jeremiah 29:11-13.

This nation; our nation is on the verge of paganism, adopting religious and cultish practices that deify people, places and things these efforts seek to destroy the Living Word of God. Those of us who know and experience the “Joy of the LORD” must continue to pray for the nation’s recovery and for those people in our circle of influence that they will be saved. This is our largest battle ahead and every believer in Jesus is a soldier of the LORD. Put on the LORD Jesus Christ and make no provision for the flesh. Romans 13:14.
