The Devotional – National Independence
Comment: I hope everyone has enjoyed Independence
Day and the weekend! Today begins a two-week vacation for us and the devotional.
We will be returning to the daily devotional on Monday, July 18, 2016.
Dwelling in one’s own
land is important to you and me, is it not? It is also important to God as well
and it is why we live on this earth with various tongues (languages), in
various tribes, peoples and nations. If you understand that the Holy Bible is the
ONLY instruction of TRUTH to live and worship God, then you also know that
Genesis 11:1-9 is the fourth institution designed and established by God to
govern the people of the earth. Today many peoples and nations are confused
with this divine decree and some purposely ignore it and the also ignore God as
well.
Devotional: Since national independence is
designed by God, it would seem reasonable to me that it ought to be God’s people
who would be most interested, active and involved in keeping their national
identity in place. How ought we to do this? Should we seek a government for the
people and ensure that we have a strong military to keep our nation and borders
safe? Should we not also seek to have a strong economy; vital education for our
young; established statutes, laws and a Constitution that are esteemed
trustworthy?
Yes, to all of the
above; YET we ARE losing the battle to keep a trustworthy government; a strong
military; a vital economy and a moral education system. Is not our government
full of corruption, governed by men and women whose aim is to advance the
systems of liberal living? Is all of what I am saying the fault of our present
and past leaders of the nation? Or is there a more vital fault, one that we may
have overlooked, but more likely IGNORED!
When the adulteress
met the LIGHT of the world she felt as if her days were done on this earth.
Yet, Jesus in John 8:1-12 revealed to her and her accusers that the fault of
her sin was the same as that of her accusers. As a religious entity we are
beyond this event in the life of the adulteress, as a religious entity we are
casting stones and we have forgotten that we are sinners. Yet the LORD GOD who
is Merciful and Just will forgive our nation in the same way He forgave the
woman; but only if God’s children will humble themselves and pray.
You see I believe
that these religious accusers of John 8, went away and began confessing their
sins to God since they were as corrupted in their ways as the woman. God will
not condemn in PART. He will condemn the WHOLE. Our nation can walk in the
Light, but it must begin with the children (saints) of God who, will repent of
our personal sin and the sin of the nation. God pleaded with the nation Israel
to hear His voice do this and I believe He has pleaded with those in this
nation of ours to do the same.
Creation hears His
voice clearly and react accordingly, just look at the uptick of natural
disasters around us today. But His people ignore Him and even though God has
shown us His zeal for our peace and future, we His saints fail Him and our
nation because we are casing stones instead of casting our prayers to the LORD
for His Divine intervention. “He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what
does the LORD require of you (to keep good, good). But to do JUSTLY. To love
MERCY, and to walk HUMBLY with God”, Micah 6:1-16.
