Comment: Remember
as a child when the neighborhood group got together for a game of ‘hide and
seek’? I suppose you might need to be above fifty years of age to remember such
events, since “crime and technology” has stolen those days from children… these
days. However, in those days when someone was hard to find; those that were
found who give hints to where the ‘hard to find’ person was. In the
introduction to Psalm 54, we read the following: David contemplation when the
Ziphites went to Saul, King of Israel and said, “Is David not hiding with us?”
As a child we do childish things, but when we become an adult we are to put
away childish ways (1 Corinthians 13:11-13). Life becomes responsible and
childish ways ought to give way to faith, hope and love. Yet and even today the
secular unbelieving world around us fails.
Devotional: When this happens, as it does often for the
child of God, what should the he or she do. To successfully be delivered from
the enemy we need a heart like David’s. David lived life and feared God
(respect for God) rather than fearing people. When we depend on people to
support or sustain our time on this planet we will fail.
As David thought of that
moment in his life and after he became king of Israel, he wrote a song
regarding “ANSWERED PRAYER” David gave the song to the Chief Musician and
reveals to everyone who reads, that God indeed does answer the prayers of His
Children.
1 To the Chief Musician. With stringed instruments. A
Contemplation of David when the Ziphites went and said to Saul, 'Is David not
hiding with us?' Save me, O God, by Your name, and vindicate me by Your
strength. 2 Hear my prayer, O God; Give ear to the words of my mouth. 3
For strangers have risen up against me, and oppressors have sought after my
life; They have not set God before them. Selah 4 Behold, God is my
helper; The Lord is with those who uphold my life. 5 He will repay my
enemies for their evil. Cut them off in Your truth. 6 I will freely
sacrifice to You; I will praise Your name, O Lord, for it is good. 7 For
He has delivered me out of all trouble; And my eye has seen its desire upon my
enemies.
Seeing your desire on your
enemy will not be final, unless God is glorified by being your “Helper”.
