The Devotional - R024

The Devotional

Comment:

For many of us if not all of us, we can look to our past and see some of the peaks, but mostly we remember those nagging valleys that cripple us and stagger those whom we love. Relationships fail, and love is replaced by anger, even hatred. If we had the opportunity to take an overview of the life of any one individual who is approaching fifty years of age we might plainly see circumstances that are very destructive. These circumstances are in three categories. (1) Physical (2) Mental, and (3) Spiritual. Physical death is the result of Personal Sin. Mental health is the result of Personal Sin. Spiritual health is the result of Personal Sin, are you getting the picture? Take inventory of your life and you will clearly see that if you are suffering in any one or more of these circumstances; The LORD God has made a way of escape and you still have time to neutralize or stabilize the effects of sin. Let’s read 1 Corinthians 10:13 together – No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

Challenge: Romans 7:1-6

All temptation and sin is common to us, thus there are no sins or any temptations which are outside of our box of toys. We have knowledge of the Law of God, even if we have not heard of the Commandments of God. There is enough evidence in the Living Word of God to demonstrate clearly that God’s Righteous way is Holy, above reproach. Psalm 19 is perfect revelation of God’s Law over Creation and God’s Power and Law over mankind. Everything in time, has its time, a season and a purpose, Ecclesiastes 3:1-15 and God has placed as a reward – eternity in our heart.

We say in our heart, well I have fallen far short of God’s Law, physically, mentally and spiritually, I am a wreck, so what is the use? STOP! Look around, are not those around us in the same temptation and sin? Yes, all of us are married to SIN. We may be very pretty on the outside, even pious at times. We may even know and teach the Law, in that it has dominion (rule) over creation and man as long as life exists. The law teaches that marriage is between “one woman and one man” it also teaches that the marriage is a lifelong contract (covenant) ordained by God. That covenant is not broken unless one or the other dies. So the Law simply points out that we are yoked to sin.

But the LORD God is full of mercy and abounding with love. If you KNOW Jesus, that is if you BELIEVE that He died and rose again from physical death, then you can say with tears of rejoicing – Rabboni, (teacher) which is the affectionate way Mary Magdalene reacted when see seen the Risen LORD. John 20:11-18 and you, like her; will what to tell the story, the story of Romans 7:4-6.

Therefore my brothers and sisters, you also have become dead to the law through the (risen) body of Christ, that you may be married (yoked) to Him who was raised from the dead, now being able to produce the fruit of righteousness, fruit that is pleasing to God. Yes our outward physical flesh is perishing, let it be so; since our inward life, our mental and spiritual being is being renewed to serve the Spirit of God and reject the oldness of the letter of the law which no one can fulfil. Bible references to this are Romans 7:1-6, John 20:11-18; Matthew 11:25-30; 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 and I am sure if you take the time to look you will find more.
