The Devotional
Comment:
In our small corner of the world we
are witnessing a stubborn attitude to the Word of God. People do not seem to be
caught up in the worship of self, they are worshiping self. This selfish
attitude has changed our communities and our churches. We frolic with one
another to the point of disorder in our streets to the point of killings, rapes
and every crime imaginable. Then we run off to a religion and celebrate or
worship a god or Thee God whom is not known to us. This is not something new! When
we turn our back to our Creator the soul of the individual and the soul of the
nation collapse. Failure to know God is not only a personal sinful condition of
the soul, it is also a national sin that paralyzes communities throughout the
homeland. Namely the United States of America.
Challenge: Romans 10:14-21
Yesterday
we saw that the individual; needs the TRUTH, today we will see that the individual
and the nation need to be re-established in the TRUTH. How can we nationally
return to God whom we have personally and nationally rejected? If we have
stopped believing in God, how then can we believe again whom we deliberately refuse
to hear? I am told that thousands of Preachers and Teachers of the Word of God
have quit the ministry, if this is true and I believe it is; how then will
anyone hear without a Preacher or Teacher?
Has
the Righteousness of God failed, absolutely NOT! Has Calling and Election
ceased, NO! As it is written; “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach
the gospel of peace, who bring glad tidings of good things”. The message and
the messenger are beautiful. There will always be a remnant of those speaking Peace
and Righteousness in the Power of the Holy Spirit and there will always be
those who have trouble believing. But notice; individuals and nations will
continue to hear because FAITH comes by hearing.
Also
we cannot say that we have not heard, better that we should own up to our
ignorance. God’s righteousness, calling and election is revealed FIRST in God’s
Powerful Creation. Psalm 19:1-6 in that the universe around us reveals the
majesty of God (His Righteousness). Psalm 19:7-10 reveals the majesty of His
Word (His calling) and lastly Psalm 19:11-14, the response of man (God’s power
to elect). Like Israel, we as a nation are without an excuse.
So
are we provoked to jealousy by those who are not a nation? Creeping into our
country from every border are people with every religion known to man. They set
up the proselyting tents and in a short period of time the churches of our
nation change, the tents are replaced by the new owner’s isms. As a national
people we certainly are jealous as we watch with little effort to resolve our
downward trend.
All
day long the LORD God stretches out His Hand to a disobedient and contrary
people, today in this country we are no different than those of Israel some two
thousand years ago.
