The Devotional - R045

The Devotional

Comment:

As a person gets older (now this is not news to anyone) but as they ripen in age some of the strength of their youth should sweeten. As in Proverbs 20:28 Solomon says “The glory of young men is their strength and the splendor of old men is their gray head.” It is somewhat sickening to see a reversal in our society today in that young men are not strong, physically, mentally or emotionally. Therefore as time continues we see women seeking to be men and men willingly letting them compete to become hardened warriors. Shame on the men of this generation!

Challenge: Romans 14:1-2

Brothers and sisters in Christ; children of God our Father. These come to us from all corners of the earth, they bring customs that we are not familiar with and religious beliefs that may differ from what we consider normal, yet we must be careful, in all, these folks are brothers and sisters of the LORD Jesus just like we believe that we are, they have the faith that pleases God. I am sure all of us have experienced the legalist as well as the liberal. Truth is that the apostle Paul ran into legalism daily, Acts 21:20 you can read the context from verse 15 to 21.

We are to receive one another by esteeming others better than one’s own self; Philippians 2:3. The way we do this is by laying aside our selfish ambitions and our snobbish conceit; it is the mind of Christ since He was tempted in every way just as we are yet He did not sin (like we do) of matters of those we feel are weak in faith. While things that people do can be considered “doubtful” it is only doubtful in our mind, but perfectly pure and right in the mind of those who we believe are weak over doubtful things. As Christ allowed Himself to be humbled in His humanity in order to be our Exalted High Priest we too should follow His example since we are a kingdom of priests under His exalted Position. Philippians 2:1-11.

God receives all peoples who understand and believe the gospel and yes it is our responsibility to receive them too. We must not judge people for the biscuit they refuse to eat or the dialect of English they speak. Doctrinal issues; if there are any can be discussed even as the apostles did with Apollos at Antioch; Acts 18:24-28. There is nothing new under the sun, thus we should expect cultural differences and prayerfully seek the wisdom of God in the fundamentals of the righteous and godly way of Life in Christ.
