The Devotional

Watching the eyes of people! Do you
watch the eyes of people or is it something else you watch? I always say that
you should avoid people with “eyes that look as though they are at half-moon”
that is to reveal that the top half of their pupil and cornea is somewhat
hidden. If you take the time to notice, the eyes of people tell you a lot about
them and one among the many observance is guilt. The second popular eye contact
judging; but the half-moon eye is criminal as it stares and often will strike
terror of the one who notices. So the eyes tell us a lot, also if someone is deceptive
they will not allow for eye to eye contact. They concentrate on your forehead,
one of your eyes or nose, the connection of one on one conversation is not
present. I am sure there are exception to most everything said here, but my
hope is to give some light on why we internally judge others, even as I have thought
to discern the language of the eye.
Challenge: Romans 14:10-13
One
failure in our walk is the failure to accept the truth that God is present with
us; how is that so? I am not sure that I can answer that question, but I know
of a story about a young five year old girl who in Bible class answered this
question quite well. She said, “God is so big that He does not have to go
anywhere!” So when I think of the presence of God I think of that statement. What
may sound simple also sounds thought worthy when placed on the backdrop of the
vast universe which is controlled by our Personal God and held together by His
omniscient Right Hand – Proverbs 8:1-36.
So
who are we when we judge the action of others who claim the same faith as we
have? Are we omniscient? Do we have the power to hold the earth in orbit? Can we
effectively discern good and evil? Yet daily we seek to better ourselves at the
expense of destroying the faith of another brother or sister of God our Father,
we step on their faith and wipe our mouth as if we have done nothing wrong.
And
it is time for you to say; “WHAT?” I would never do such a thing! Yes, you may
be right, intentionally (not spiritually) we seek peace with everyone. However,
we are not always swift to hear and slow to speak since many of us have that
backward – James 1:19-20.
Solomon
says that in the multitude of words, sin is not lacking, but he who restrains
his lips is wise – Proverbs 10:19. So what we do with our eyes produces what is
in our heart as Solomon says in Ecclesiastes 7:9 – do not hasten in your spirit
to be angry, for anger rests (is at home) in the bosom (heart) of the fool. So
the eyes of mankind reveal what the heart of man already knows, which is; guilt,
aggression, deception, fear and judging, no order of priority intended.
And
all the while. As it is written: “As I live, says the LORD, Every knee shall
bow to Me and every tongue shall confess to God.” (Isaiah 45:23). Truly in the
LORD alone we have Righteousness and Strength, but in our personal strength we
only have the strength to destroy a brother or sister since all judging is
unrighteous, foolish and demonic. Isaiah 45:21-24. Let us stop judging one
another, resolve to be righteous in the LORD and do not put a stumbling block
of offense in the way and cause our brother or sister of our Father God to
fall! Matthew 6:9-13 applies.
