The Devotional – Come and eat breakfast

The Devotional – Come and eat breakfast

Comment: We are here in the last chapter of the gospel of John. I hope that you have been blest as I have in looking at what I believe is the theme of John’s gospel, “The Love of God!” Every chapter overflows with God’s love for His Created world. I would like to look back briefly and recap some of these moments. Jesus is devoted to the Father’s Will, devoted by love and obedience to do that will. Even to death, to resurrection and the shores of Tiberius and beyond, right into the souls of those who carried this message to world; to you and to me also. Praise God! His LOVE never fails and the proof is that even today the Love of God is as strong and vital for abundant life and stronger still to last throughout eternity. Why is that? “In the BEGINNING was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. All things were made through Him and without Him NOTHING was made that was made. In Him was LIFE, and the life was the light of men. And the LIGHT shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.” This Light is the revelation (revealing) of God’s LOVE through His Son.

Devotional: John 21 is a powerful message directed at God’s love for you and me and to the world as well. I believe it expands the Words of Jesus to Nicodemus, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that WHOEVER believes in HIM should not perish but have eternal life.” The gospel of John reveals to the world this love by the messages of the “eye witnesses” such as these found in John 20:30-31.

“And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ/Messiah, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.”

Do you know that when a person believes in Jesus Christ that the eight miracles recorded in John’s gospel; that these historical facts become personal faith in God; becoming resident truth in the soul. (1) water to wine; (2) the nobleman’s son healed; (3) the healing of the lame man at the pool at Bethesda; (4) the feeding of the five thousand; (5) Jesus walked on the water; (6) the man born blind is given sight; (7) Lazarus raised from the dead; and the greatest of these (8) IT IS FINISHED and the EMPTY TOMB.

But wait… there are two other miracles! John 21:9, after the disciples returned to shore, (1) 153 fish in a net that could hardly contain them and (2) a little camp fire with breakfast being cooked by Jesus Himself and Jesus said; “Come and eat breakfast” there are volumes of TRUTH in this last chapter of John. God earnestly desires our love, even as He loves us. With our eyes on HIM and our souls directed by His love it does not matter what other disciples are gifted to do, we are to follow Him and feed and tend His sheep.

“And there are also many other things that Jesus did, which if these were written one by one. I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that would be written, AMEN.” John 21:25.
