The Devotional –Humble Soul?

The Devotional –Humble Soul?

Comment: We have completed our walk through the gospel of John and seen that the LOVE of God is great, full of mercy and abounding in grace. Yet, we could began again in this gospel and fine more grace, more mercy and more LOVE. There are many believers who struggle with loving God, they may say that they love God but in their heart they know there is an ongoing struggle. The failure if I may say so is the lack of understanding God’s Mercy and Grace. So as we look at our next adventure is the Word of the Living God, pray with me that He will reveal to each of us through His Word that LOVE, loving God is possible, because He first loved us. Love is a moment by moment reality. Psalm119:105 – Thy Word is a Lamp to my feet and a Light to my path.

Devotional: A simple verse of scripture is often used by the LORD to get our attention, Psalm 119:105 is such a verse, yet like others, we tend to wear these out, without allowing God to use these verses to motivate us and draw close to Him in love. Another verse of scripture is found in Micah 6:8; tucked away in this prophet’s book to Jerusalem we find Words that can be applied to our daily walk. The Lamp in this case directs us to be responsible to God and to our neighbor.

“HE has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you, but “but to do justly” “to love mercy” and to “walk humbly WITH your God?” How many of us would notice the question mark in this sentence? It is there so do not miss it, religion requires work, deeds of the flesh that reveal outward performance. A love relationship with the LORD God is not an outward performance, but it is an inward response of the soul.

The questions of Micah begins in Micah 6:6 – With what shall I come before the LORD, and bow myself before the HIGH God? Shall I come before Him with burnt offerings, with calves a year old? Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, Ten thousand rivers of oil? Shall I give my first born for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my SOUL?

So why does Micah by direction of God the Holy Spirit use a question mark and not an explanation mark at the end of verse eight? We can KNOW this, God is personal and looks for a personal response from each of us! Because many have a misunderstanding of public ritual and performance before God. Even today we miss the mark that God has given us as a goal. At the end of verse eight the question mark is; we have a choice in that God, while hating offerings that appease our flesh will always offer His LOVE, MERCY AND GRACE, yet again we seem to reject these attributes and gifts and appease our flesh with performance.

The choice to humbly walk with God will always be available to His children, but first we must be willing to live justly and to love mercy; these are “prerequisites” to a humble soul in love with God. Religion looks good, like a freshly white washed tombstone, but inwardly religion is full of decay and rotting bones – Matthew 23:27. This was and is a problem with national Israel and it is a problem with the nation we call our homeland today.
