A Daily Devotional – Colossians – Personal Meditation (5)

A Daily Devotional – Colossians – Personal Meditation
Comment: When we come to faith in Christ, the ministry that God has for us begins to burn in our soul. Certainly, at first, we do not know what that ministry is, but if we are willing to allow the preeminence of Christ to take full root we will as the apostle did; know the path He has for us. Long before the LORD reaches out to us, He prepares us for the day we are to be saved and reconciled to Him. Therefore, how could we ever think that we had something to do with being saved, or even know why. Notice Acts 9:10-19 especially verses 15-16. Saul at this point only knew Christ as his enemy. He had little knowledge of the love of Christ who knocked him off of his horse; even Ananias who was opposed to baptizing Saul knew nothing, Ananias did not want to see Saul baptized and remained a bit skeptical. Never the less by verse 19 Ananias realizes that Saul is in fact a brother in Christ.

Devotional: Colossians 1:19-23 – We are all called by God for sacrificial service, now this alone should rock the boat of all the prosperity gospel people. The apostle Paul becomes a bit emotional with his words as he says, “I now rejoice in my sufferings for the saints at Colosse. When he says that his ‘flesh is fill up’ he is relating to the fullness of the Spirit of God that he observes in the Colosse church. If you have ever experienced this joy of corporate worship, then you know the effect of spiritual joy.

Paul is given stewardship over the dispensation we now live in. Thus, it is no small thing that he has written thirteen epistles to provide ample training for men, women and children to walk as brothers and sisters in Christ. When a church is functioning in this manner, leaders like Paul of the past will see and know from God personally that their suffering is not in vain, but glorious, this brings a joy to that man’s soul that cannot be expressed in words. Church leaders suffer. They suffer in much tribulation and many leave the ministry. Pray for your pastor and teacher, like Moses who needed Hur and Aaron (see Exodus 17:10-12) to support his arms.

In the dispensations of times before the mystery of the church was just that… a mystery, but the day came and it is now the revealed glory of God. Rich in the abundant wisdom of God in Christ revealed in and to you and me, His Children. Which is Christ in us our confident hope of Glory. So, the number one calling for each of God’s children is this. “Him The Christ/Messiah we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom. That we may present every many PERFECT in Christ. This suffering labor of love ought to be working in every child of God throughout Christendom today.
