A Daily Devotional – Ephesians – Personal Meditation (13)

A Daily Devotional – Ephesians – Personal Meditation

Comment: So, have we forgotten family life? Is our way of life in the United States of America friendly to the past, or is it unfriendly? We today rely on “search engines” believing people who may or may not be recording the truth. We dare not ask our father for fear that he does not know. Grandfathers too, only a generation behind have lost the vital history of their family. Occasionally a great grandfather can reveal our ancestral family tree, but the mindset of most young people you will find that they have no time to sit and listen to the feeble mumblings of the bygone days. Now for me the question arises: Why? Why have we forgotten our vital roots, and why are we lost in this sea of indifference? Could it be that we have forgotten God as the source of true history and could it be that nationally we have forced God out of our lives? And can it be that moms and dads today believe as the fool (Psalm 14:1) The fool has said in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none who does good.

Devotional: Ephesians 4 through 6 – As I have studied and meditated in Ephesians over these weeks, thoughts of the human family have been in the background. Yes, we will not lose sight of the Holy Spirit’s teaching of Spiritual Wisdom, of grace or faith. We will not lose sight that we are brought to the family of God by the blood of Christ. The Messiah is our Peace, our Cornerstone of Faith. He is the revelation of Truth, and the mystery of the Old is now appreciated in the New. Yet, there is another revelation within the context of Ephesians, that reveals to you and me that ‘family; the human family’ should not resist in revealing our heavenly family – in Christ.

The church (our godly family) is vital in this, teaching that we are to walk in unity, we are to use the Spiritual gifts that God provides, we are to live as cleansed children of God – in Christ, but putting off the old ‘uncleansed way of life. We learn to allow God the Holy Spirit to renew the spirit of our mind. God provides His Righteousness and Holiness which is TRUE and by putting on His Righteous and Holy way, we turn away from our unrighteous and unholy clothing of the past and the Spirit of God in us is not grieved. And again, as we looked yesterday; the church restores us back to the image and likeness of God.

We are no longer to walk in darkness, we are now Light in the LORD. Walk as children of light; in the Spirit, in all goodness, righteousness and truth, which is true holiness, this is what is acceptable to the LORD. Our understanding of the family of God, and our human family has far too long been separated from Truth, as the TRUTH is in Jesus (Ephesians 4:21). So, currently our walk has failed, humanly and spiritually our marriages and families have crumbled. Many churches of today reveal this same condition, while married to Christ, these church families are unfaithful to Him and resemble five of the seven churches in Revelation 2 and 3.
