The Devotional – 1068 – Foot Steps in First Corinthians, On
Going
King Solomon was very wise, the Holy Bible records for us
how God gave the king at a very early age of life this great wisdom. It is
recorded in 1 Kings 3 that the conversation that Solomon had with the LORD in a
dream, pleased God and that God as a result granted Solomon the wisdom he would
need to minister as King over Israel. 1 Kings 3:9-13 explains to anyone who
reads the Bible that God not only answers prayer but goes beyond what we ask or
think. The Holy Words of the Bible are not some magical chant nor are the Works
of God revealed in the Holy Bible some sort of folk-lure to snare naïve people.
Since this is so then we must ask the question. Why is there so much “ignorance”
in the world when it comes to the knowledge of God? The answer is as large as
time itself, but the answer is available if one is willing to seek it by faith;

CHALLENGES & COMMENTS – 1 Corinthians 14:26-40
In conclusion to
this section of 1st Corinthians I like what the apostle has to say
in verse 33 of the 14th chapter. “For God is not the author of
confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints”. The Word of God
did not come from any modern day church, it is plain to see in the 15th
chapter of 1st Corinthians that even the message of the cross (the
gospel) came from the “Scriptures” that would be the Old Testament parchments
that the apostle Paul refers to in many of his New Testament epistles.
The ONLY
scriptures available to the apostle at the time of his writing were from
Genesis to Malachi, and from THESE he delivered the message that Christ died
and rose again. So along with the witnesses; people like the other apostles and
folks who were eye witnesses of the God/man Jesus. Therefore the message of God
to world was not accomplished in some dark corner of the world, 2 Peter 1:16,
but was revealed through TIME over the course of four thousand years of Old
Testament writings.
Ignorance to the
Holy Word of God then is an individual decision on the part of every person,
tribe, tongue and nation. Yet it is the responsibility of the church to provide
the scriptural truth of the Word of God to these people groups and that
responsibility includes – “getting the message RIGHT” in that the Word of God
did not come to you or me originally, God did not reach out and tap anyone on
the shoulder and magically make him or her overseer of the gospel of God.
Therefore the
apostle says that if anyone thinks himself to be a prophet or spiritual, let
him acknowledge that the things written for our benefit or edification are
produced by the Holy Spirit of God and are the Commandments of the LORD, thus
it is my message that anyone who goes beyond what is revealed in scripture
(OLD) willingly sins and adds a system of works that are not commanded by God.
Some that I talk
with do not like it when I say “Let ALL things be done decently and in order”
Their response leads me to think that this means that we are too willing to
compromise the truth for some emotional and ignorant idea that they can shape
the Word of God into whatever they believe and that God will agree. Bah Humbug!
I recently handed a small message of the cross to someone who said, “Oh don’t
give me that, I have never taken Christ out of Christmas!” That is the problem
is it not? Many leave Him in the manger and never consider that their own soul
can be a temple of residence for Him as Savor and LORD.
