The Devotional – 1077 – Foot Steps in Second Corinthians, On Going

The apostle John between AD 85 and AD 90 penned the last words of his gospel. These words read as follows; “and there are also many other things that Jesus did, which if they were written one by one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that would be written. Amen” (John 21:25). The word “amen” means “trustworthy” in Greek and “faithful or sure” in Hebrew, so the point… the next time you apply the word “AMEN” to your statement or the statement of others, be reminded that the power of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ is a faithful and trustworthy statement that even today the world cannot contain this biblical Truth. Yet imagine your soul filled with the Holy Spirit… He is our tour guide, John 16:13.

CHALLENGES & COMMENTS – 2 Corinthians 1:4-9

Another word that we seem to run over rather quickly is the word “blessed” and like “amen” the two words mean little in our ever increasing secular society. I suppose that it will not be long before words like “amen” “blessed” and even “hallelujah” will become intolerant in our advancing humanistic world view of life.

Yet, there will be a remnant of those of us who cling to the power of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Those of us whose faith in God is “AMEN, BLESSED and HALLEHUJAH”. We are the remnant that believe in the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort. Tribulation concerning this truth is coming; are you ready?

It is God who comforts us in all tribulation, He does this for two main reasons. (1) God’s grace provides the peace we need, a peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:6-7). (2) God’s grace and peace are the “amen” from our assurance of faith in God. As the suffering of Christ abound in His saints so also will our consolation will abound to others through our relationship in Christ. (Our present passage in 2 Corinthians).

We earnestly need to consider daily that the present advancing suffering we see in Christendom today is working its way into our lives as well. Now if we are afflicted, who shall we look to if we do not have the assurance of faith through the grace and peace of God who has given us all things in Christ? See Ephesians 1:3-14.

We may not find anyone to comfort us in our affliction. Therefore now is the time, to allow God through His promises to set our focus on His Son the LORD Jesus Christ who for the “JOY” that was set before Him endured the cross, despised the shame and is now seated at the right hand of the Throne of God. See Hebrews 12:2.
