The Devotional – 1074 – Foot Steps in First Corinthians, On
Going
There are some things to remember and some things that we
place on the “back burner” as one friend and pastor used to say. Last Sunday I was
reminded by his son of another of his witty definitions. He would say “How
quick is a twinkling of the eye?” then nearly as quick as the twinkling of the
eye he would say… “The time it takes for the person behind you to toot his horn
when the light turns green”. There is comfort in the sound of the trumpet and
anytime the person behind us toots his horn we should be reminded. “For the
LORD Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an
archangel and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ shall rise first”.
1 Thessalonians 4:16 (see also verses 13-18).
CHALLENGES & COMMENTS – 1 Corinthians 15:50-58
Think about this! “flesh
and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God” wow imagine how the religious
teachings of all of the false teachers fall flat and defeated by this statement
of the Holy Spirit through the apostle Paul. He further says that corruption
cannot inherit incorruption. The kingdom of God will never experience decay in
any form. Whether we understand this or not, means nothing regarding the truth
of it.
Paul via the Holy
Spirit explains that this is a “hidden truth” it is hidden to those who are
corrupted. The question that pops into my mind is… “who are those who are
corrupted” all are corrupted and
fall short of the glory of God, Romans 3:23. Does this then mean that those who
are saved are still under the mystery? No not at all, this passage and the one
we looked at above are promises to the saved that become anchors of assurance
for the soul and a haven of rest in the storms of life.
Corruption of the
body of flesh should be a strong motivation to put on the attributes of
incorruption, I believe that the parable of the wise and foolish virgins in
Matthew 25:1-13 has everything to do with the saints of God to be wise; to fill
our new life in Christ with the oil (truth) that the Holy Spirit offers to
every believer. “Behold the Bridegroom is coming; we are to… go out and meet Him. This means that we
must be ready.
Death should mean
little to the saint of God, if there is a sting in our heart at the thought of
death then it is the result of trusting sin, but thanks to God alone who gives
us victory over sin and death
through the sacrificial death and resurrection of our LORD Jesus Christ.
Therefore brothers
and sisters in Christ, be steadfast,
be immovable, be always abounding in the work of the LORD, knowing that your
labor is not in vain in the LORD. “Fill my cup LORD, fill it up! Fill it up
and make me wholly Yours!”
Exodus 15:11 "Who
is like You, O Lord, among the gods? Who is like You, glorious in holiness,
Fearful in praises, doing wonders?
