The Devotional – 1073 – Foot Steps in First Corinthians, On
Going
We have come to one of my favorite passages of scripture,
verses 35 to 49 of 1st Corinthians. I believe this section is a “glorious”
description of the heavenly and the earthly, or the eternal and the temporal,
or of time and eternity. It is also interesting that the apostle Paul in his
exposition on this subject did not dream this up as some sort of religious
hoax, but was inspired by the Holy Spirit to record these truths from an
eternal perspective rather than from the earthly point of view of all
religions. In fact the Holy Bible does not teach anything from a human point of
view. All of the wisdom and knowledge of God is NOT and I repeat NOT as the
result of the cunningly recorded fables of liars. All of the New and Old
Testament writers were witnesses of His Majesty; who is The Christ, The Messiah.
2 Peter 1:16-21.
CHALLENGES & COMMENTS – 1 Corinthians 15:35-49
It is interesting
that when God spoke to Ezekiel about the bones in chapter 37 of Ezekiel, He
said; “Son of man (earthly man) can these bones live?” The son of man responded
to the LORD (Eternal God) “O LORD you know”! Thus with the help of the Creator
God of heaven, Ezekiel was able to prophesy to the “dry” (dead bones) that breath
would once again enter them and they shall live again; Ezekiel 37:1-14.
In the book of
Daniel he prophecies that those who are asleep in the dust of the earth shall
awake, some to everlasting life and some to shame and everlasting contempt;
Daniel 12:1-3. The Holy Bible is God breathed with heavenly life for everyone
who calls upon the Name of the LORD for salvation, Romans 10:1-13. There are no
writings by men or women who promise hope and assurance like the Holy Bible.
The human body is
sown in dishonor and raised in glory, it is sown in weakness, but raised in
power. Also it is sown as a natural (earthly) body, it is raised as a spiritual
(heavenly) body. There are no other writings that claim this truth, why? Because
these writings are held captive by the natural mind, 1 Corinthians 2:14.
Therefore how
absurd is it to believe that eternity with a god includes the fantasies of
being surrounded by virgins, or that one might return to the earth as a sacred
cow. What might the Creator God do with such nonsense? The nonsense is SIN and
God has dealt with the sin of man, 1 Corinthians 1:18-25. So the thought here
is “what has God done to deal with man’s religious nonsense”?
Adam the first man
was of the earth and to the earth returned, he and all who are in Adam will die
and return to dust. If this is all there is then those who only know Adam’s way
of life will be surrounded by “dust” (by a stretch of one’s imagination maybe virgin
dust and cow urine) until they hear the prophesy of the dry bones.
However, those of
us who die in Christ’s death, will not see this final judgment.
The second Man
even though having a nature as the first also had the supernatural nature of
God because He is God. The earth could not contain God because God is the
Creator, Jesus rose again and those who believe in Him have likewise received a
supernatural body like His that the grave of the earth will not be able to
hold. As we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the
image of the heavenly man, Romans 8:12-30.
