The Devotional – 1110 – Foot Steps in Second Corinthians, On Going

The Holy Bible is the written Word of God to all of mankind, the Word is infallible, meaning that every Word is INCAPABLE of error. People who wrote the books of the Holy Bible, did not of themselves write their laws, testimonies, statutes, precepts and commandments for the world to accept or reject. If man were responsible for the Holy Bible, it would be required of the people of the world to use; reasoning, empiricism and other so-called sacred writings to determine the reality of God. The end result of this worldly system of experimenting or reasoning with God, is where we are today in the United States. Young people are being taught (not to believe God, but to deny Him) through the use of all finite resources within their mind and conclude that the Holy Bible is man’s writings of fable and folklore. Yet, the Holy Bible has withstood this challenge of unbelief with these WORDS. But without “faith” it is impossible to please God – Hebrews 11:6, yet this is not all that Hebrews 11:6 says; notice – “for he who comes to God (searches for Him) must believe that He is (The God of the Holy Bible, He is God there is none other). Faith is believing and if you believe (the verse assumes that you do believe), then God rewards the diligence of your faith.

CHALLENGES & COMMENTS – 2 Corinthians 12:11-13

The challenge of the apostle Paul in these few verses is for the people of Corinth to use their faith in God and not his boasting of qualifications. The majority in the Corinthian church, knew that the apostle demonstrated the qualifications of apostleship, but they kept silent, the why is anyone’s guess, maybe there was a great deal of intimidation by those who were false apostles? One thing we should understand is that the apostle Paul understood that any continued boasting would be foolish.

The New King James Version in verse 11 reads in the last half of the verse: “in nothing I was behind the most eminent apostles, though I am nothing”. Dr. Thomas Constable reveals from the Greek words this eye opener, which is also found in the New International Version. The most eminent apostles could easily be translated – “super apostles” huperlian apostolon Paul then understands what many have difficulty with today. In the sight of God even the most super spiritual person, or the most false spiritual person is NOTHING to God.

Verse 13 helps us to understand the apostle’s struggle with the Corinthians who for the most part understood but were silent. His aim is on those who think that they are “spiritually special” or above reproach. The Corinthians looked at their church as inferior to other churches because false teachers advocated that Paul was not an apostle, but an impersonator. This would drive many in leadership to another career if it were true.

Yet, what is the apostle’s response, “except that I myself was not a burden to you, forgive me of this wrong”. Now we could go on but the bottom line to all of this suffering that the apostle is faced with in the Corinthian church is the result of a “sin based platform” rather than a “faith based platform” of teaching within the authority structure of the church. And you say “wow” Jesse, where do you get that from? 2 Corinthians 13:1-5, coming attractions.
