The Devotional
Comment:
Several years ago I was assigned to a program in the Navy
where we gave some of our old destroyers to foreign Navies. My first experience
was that our group met with the sailors of a nation (I will not identify them
since it is not necessary) but just going into the auditorium where we met the
crew was a struggle. The stench of tobacco and the lack of good ventilation in
those days when smoking was allowed inside government buildings was very
strong. My immediate impression of these folks was not good and I was not a
believer in Jesus Christ at that time. Even the officers including the
Commanding Officer of that crew sported longer hair, beards and a general
unkempt demeanor. I found myself thankful that our Navy had better regulations
and discipline, by the way this was the early 1960’s. Now the analogy of this
fits in some ways to what I will say below but not totally and all analogy will
miss the mark at some point, but what is important is that we see that as a
nation, we the people have lost sight of “REGULATION AND DISCIPLE” in our
HOMELAND.
Challenge:
Lamentations
Israel could do
nothing but watch in the year of 586 BC when King Nebuchadnezzar and his
Babylonian army marched into Jer-USA-lem and laid hands on ALL the treasury of
the nation. She saw and witnessed PAGAN nations (Medes and Persians) allied
with Babylon enter the treasury and the temple. Israel could do nothing but
watch in horror as all was destroyed and plundered.
Now the events of
Lamentations did not happen without warning, God repeatedly warned the nation
of His pending judgment, beginning in the eighth century BC with the Prophet
Isaiah, God began to cycle discipline into the nation of Israel because the
nation turned away from God to the worship the false gods of the pagan nations
around them.
Are we so blind in
our own nation that we do not see this very same thing going on? Some of our
cities in the north Midwestern states and the northern New England townships are
totally controlled by pagan worship. I see that, as the northern kingdom of
Israel fell in 726BC that the north side of any nation is easy pickens for
pagan worship to infiltrate. The stench of relaxed biblical regulation and
discipline has overcome the freedom and liberty of our way in these cities and
townships, all the devil needs is a foothold.
Those pagan
religions who were once FORBIDDEN now sit in our churches and temples of
worship and the list of why we cannot chase them away is a legal writ from our
very own government and from the pagan laws within the false doctrines of these
unholy religions. What do we do, some of us watch in horror, others who are
ignorant of the danger, join this ungodliness, they pat each other on the back,
they wipe their mouth and say they have done nothing wrong while barking at the
moon, Proverbs 30:20 we have become adulterous with the gods.
Lamentations
1:10-16 – the auditoriums of pagan worship are surrounding us and all we do is
watch. Immorality is ramped up, sort of like this: idolatry is the tap (faucet)
that immorality flows from. We groan over our national decay, our young people
have no direction to do right or to do wrong therefore they are left to
themselves to pursue the flow of false systems of belief. Our CHILDREN sell
their souls for spiritual direction and many commit suicide because they are
starved from knowing the LOVE OF GOD.
Lamentations 1:17-22
– the LORD, He is Righteous, even so Israel rebelled and so have WE. We have
rebelled from His Way. “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only
Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John
3:16) again we have rebelled from the LOVE OF GOD. Should I say that again? Yes
we have rebelled from the LOVE OF GOD!
There is coming
the day in the near future when our priests and holy men of God will wander the
streets begging for food to keep themselves alive. I do not understand…I am
distressed over this, tormented within and my heart is disturbed, yet I am also
rebellious. On the outside I would rather reach out with a weapon and put an
end to all the ungodliness in front of my eyes. Yet I am constantly reminded
from the Holy Bible that it is not the stench of death, but it is FAITH IN the
LOVE of GOD that is the victory.
