The Devotional - R006

The Devotional

Comment:
Ezekiel 18:4 – Behold, all souls are mine: The soul of the Father as well as the soul of the son is MINE. The soul that sins shall die. (Now) Revelation 20:11-15 – Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to their works. Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire. God has excellent records of “who you are” and where you are in the world today. He also knows the choices you make daily, not those choices that we all who know you can see, but those choices in your inner heart, the ones only He and you see.

Challenge: Romans 1:17-19
Last Friday, we looked a bit at the Righteous Standard of God and the opposing unrighteous standard of mankind. It is hard for me to move to far from this thought, since mankind (you and me) have such a strong desire to be humanly RIGHT, yet our standard by God’s perfect RIGHT (He Created you and me) is WRONG. It is so wrong that it is absolutely wrong in the face of God’s being absolutely Right, notice again what God says by the Holy Spirit in the apostle Paul.

Romans 1:16-18 – For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek (you and me). For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, "The just shall live by faith." For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness.

Do these words bless or curse your soul? The apostle explains confidently that the gospel of God is not something anyone should be ashamed of because it reveals to the Jew and the Gentile (all of mankind) the RIGHTEOUSNESS which of God. From faith to faith does not mean from church to church or anything like that, it means from “soul to soul” or the (inner heart of people) and for example the writer of Hebrews who is also filled with the Holy Spirit says it this way, Without faith it is IMPOSSIBLE to please God; for he or her (singular or personal) must believe that He (Jesus) is God and a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him – Hebrew 11:6.

God is fully cognizant of the “righteousness” in your soul; it is either full of the works of man (unrighteousness) or it is by faith; full of Jesus and full of the works of God (Righteousness). God has an inventory of the contents of your soul, and remember the Ezekiel passage… “The soul that sins shall die” God also has a record, remember Revelation passage; “And the books were opened, and those who were not found written in the Book of Life were judged out of the works of the dead”.

Now you may be thinking… “How do I know what God’s Righteous standards are, how should I live, with whom shall I live with and with what shall I do with my life and the people in my life… I mean I listen to my parents, I have been taught right and wrong and I am told that I can do whatever I choose to do as long as I do not hurt anyone” All of this I try to do so what is the problem”?

Chapters 1 and 2 of Romans develop all of the problems associated with the above paragraph and I pray that the LORD will direct my steps to reveal the problems we face as humans when we try to live within the boundaries of human righteousness and reject the free gift of God’s Righteousness and fail to come to faith in God. Hang in there with me since I am sure that there is plenty of room for all of us to increase our faith in God who loves us fully.
