The Devotional
Comment:
Life can be so busy (but it is not) that men and women never
have the opportunity to sit alone with God. Now it is not that God is too busy
for you or me, it is much worse than that in that we pretend to be too busy for
God. We find flimsy purposes to avoid moments with the LORD. I do not disagree
with your thoughts at the moment, even as I put these words together my mind is
striving to go beyond, to get it done so to speak so that I can move on to the
next event of the day. So with this thought in mind, did you ever sit with a
friend or a loved one and feel that they had no time for you. We experience
this avoidance syndrome daily and why is that? There are many reasons all we
need to do is pick one, it is that easy. Now what about God who is ever
present? How much time does He have to spend with you? MUCH I WOULD SAY! How
much time do you spend with Him? LITTLE WOULD BE THE RIGHT ANSWER! For the most
of us we ignore the lead of the Holy Spirit when He prompts us to speak to Him.
We knowingly turn away from Him and greave Him when playing with the sin of the
world and we quench His power when sin becomes our routine way of life for a
season.
Challenge:
Lamentations 3
Taking another
brief look at Chapter 3 of Lamentations I would like to start with something
Jeremiah the Prophet of God says in his book. Jeremiah 33:3 – Call unto me and I
will answer thee and show you great and mighty things which thou knowest not
KJV. God speaks to Jeremiah while Jeremiah is in prison for his testimony of
God. This is the second time that Jeremiah is incarcerated, yet the
communication between God and the man is very strong and very present.
Sometimes it takes an event of aloneness for a person or a nation for God to
get our attention.
Israel at the time
of Jeremiah’s imprisonment is about two to four years before the nation is
completely carried away in exile by the Babylonians. This can also be the time
when Jeremiah wrote the book of Lamentations. The future of Israel looks bleak,
in fact from Jeremiah’s point of view he feels that God is done with Israel. Israel
is under siege by the most powerful army in the world and now God suggests that
Jeremiah should buy a field. The field already belonging to the Babylonians
seemed to Jeremiah to be a worthless investment.
Jeremiah questions
God about the purchase in Jeremiah 32:24-25, God’s answer is the same as in
Jeremiah 33:3 in that God says to Jeremiah in 32:26 – Then the Word of the LORD
came to Jeremiah, “I AM THE LORD, the God of ALL mankind. Is there anything too
HARD for Me? Therefore this is what the LORD says… the passage of God speaking
to Jeremiah is lengthily so I challenge you to read it on your own. But here is
the RUB! We need to take the time to communicate with God regarding our nation.
Why is that, you
may be thinking. AS A NATION ISRAEL IS STILL IN EXISTENCE TODAY. Jeremiah
purchased the land by faith in GOD, the land that Jeremiah purchased is still
in Israel’s hand this very moment. At the present time where is Babylon today? As
a dynasty of ruthless power and aggression it is now buried under sands of the
dessert somewhere in the area of Iraq.
Will we grieve
over this nation, no doubt we will, is there hope for the nation, yes there is.
This hope abides in faith toward God who is our only HOPE. Lamentations the
book is a MUST READ if you are interested in seeking God’s help to salvage the
land. So go ahead and hope in God, purchase our LAND back from the enemy and
prepare it for the future generations of citizens of the United States of
America. God will be with you in this just as He was with Jeremiah and Israel.
God does not change. He is the same yesterday, today and forever – Hebrews 13:8.
God Bless this Nation. Amen!
