The Devotional – Fight the good fight of Faith (Part 10)
Comment: Even if we are at fault, we do not like
to hear the words, “This is all your fault!” The sting of failure is something we
strive to avoid. Sometimes in the process of doing right we still fail, we fail
because we apply directions, instead of obeying them. One of the areas of this failure
is most readily visible is our own personal life to the public around us. “Are
you ready for this?” If I am with the public, that is mingling with people, I
will normally apply a good and honest character. Yet alone in my mind my
character may not be obedient to what I would like the public to see. Therefore,
in the process of application rather than obedience, I am a double-minded
person and I have failed to be obedient to what is directed. I believe that the
church of Jesus Christ today in the United States of America is saturated with
double minded people who in seeking to do good by application. They do not obey
the direction of the Holy Bible and I also believe that this is The major cause of our crumbling
nation.
Devotional: Psalm 119:1-8 – The Psalm starts with
the thought of being “blameless” the NKJV uses the word ‘undefiled’. The writer
claims that blessing is for those whose ways are established (obedient) to the
law of the LORD, who keep God’s testimonies and who have a “whole heart” (not
double-minded) and desire to seek Him. Iniquity is not found in the person who
ways are blameless. WHY? Because they willingly walk in the ways of the LORD,
both in the public eye and in the privacy of their mind.
Okay, the disclaimer
to this is when someone says “that’s impossible since we all sin” yes, yes we
do; we all have a sinful nature, yet God has never ordained that we should
apply His Word and obey our sinful nature. This is not faith and all too often this
is what we do best. The apostle James, in his epistle writes directly to our
subject today. James 1:2-8 you must read the context as I will only write out
verse 8, “he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.”
By the way, the
subject is not keeping the law or the testimonies of God, neither is the
subject applying the Word or obedience to the Word of God. I should also say
that the subject is not “blameless or undefiled in our ways, public or private!”
the subject is FAITH! Faith is obedience to God; it is not FULL FAITH or
half-faith. It is not some work and some faith for the scripture says clearly.
Without Faith it is impossible to please GOD, God rewards people who are
faithful to Him; Hebrews 11:6. The work that pleases God and rewards His
children is obedience to His Word both publically and privately.
