The Devotional – Fight the good fight of Faith (Part 3)
Comment: Isaiah 64:4 – For since the beginning of the world men have not heard nor perceived
by the ear, nor has the eye seen any God besides You. Who acts for the one who waits for Him. 1 Corinthians 2:9 – But as
it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the
heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him. If I were to pick out a
key word from both of these verses it would be the word in the in Isaiah “WAIT”
and in Corinthians “LOVE”. Most people, even those who believe in Jesus Christ
struggle with loving God. The Hebrew word “CHAKAH” in Isaiah means to “ADHERE”
or stick to. The Greek word for love in the Corinthian passage is “AGAPE” as in
being “DEVOTED”; we ought to be stuck
on or devoted JESUS the SON of GOD I
like the thought and I hope you do too.
Devotional: Jude
1:5-11 – If we are unfamiliar with apostasy, Jude gives us a few examples of
what it is and how it begins in those who were once delivered by the LORD. Jude
reminds us of Old Testament events; How the LORD saved Israel out of the land
of Egypt, but later destroyed those who failed to believe. He continues with
the angels of God who did not keep their “own domain” but left, or stepped away
from their abiding place. Those angels whom God has placed in another domain,
reserved in chains and darkness for the JUDGMENT on the Great Day of the LORD.
Jude recalls another
historical event “Sodom and Gomorrah” something included by Jude that is not
commonly known is that the immoral activity of these two cities contaminated
the cities around the hub of the two known cities. These events are a part of
the history of fallen mankind, what was back then is just as real today in the
world around us. DREAMERS who defile the flesh of the innocent, who while in
places of authority, reject the responsibility of authority by leading people
astray.
The battle is STRONG
the real enemy is SATAN whom we call the devil. Jude brings to light another
event in history that would be unknown. The contention between Michael the
archangel and Satan over the body of Moses. This clears of the myth of “did or
did not Moses die” Yes, Moses died, it says so here in the epistle of Jude and
in Deuteronomy 34:5. Yet in men’s heart, the argument of corrupting Truth that
Michael and Satan had was very real and very strong, so strong that Michael
said to Satan… “The LORD rebuke you” so we too must be willing to say “The LORD
rebuke you to those who corrupt the Truth”.
These examples are real
today, the battle for TRUTH still rages. Religions, cults and men of depraved
minds speak EVIL, men love the darkness, they adhere themselves to doing what
they know naturally. Therefore, God identifies these people as ‘brute beast’
they are in our churches, teaching the way of Cain (works of the flesh),
teaching a prosperity gospel (the greed of Balaam) and (the liberal application
of Truth) which is rebellion or the way of Korah.
