A Daily Devotional – Ephesians – Personal Meditation (5)

A Daily Devotional – Ephesians – Personal Meditation

Comment: When I was a firefighter we often trained on various ways to survive in fire or other emergency events like confined space. Confined space is just what it is; an area that is difficult to go through, full of smoke and dark. Survival in any emergency requires one to control their emotions and adrenalin. Too much adrenalin and your muscles cramp and fail to work. Too much emotion and panic is at the door step, followed by wrong choices and often death. Training is always necessary for survival. Training and teaching it the Holy Bible is a major subject, the only way to an ongoing relationship with God the Father is through Jesus Christ. Training began with instruction from God that mankind was to obey Him. Genesis 2:16-17 is not only a command of God it is also a training exercise to obey. Training by God never stops to reach out to us. God is Light and in Him is no darkness, no smoke and His ways are not difficult, see 1 John 4:17-21.

Devotional: Ephesians 2:1-6 – In our walk through Ephesians and now beginning in chapter two we see that God the Father trains us that “Grace” God’s grace is the WAY He trains His children. He reveals that as His child we already have felt His grace at work. Ephesians 2:1 reveals that we were “made alive” or born anew. We were dead in the darkness of trespass and sin. We walked and move about according to the confinement of the course of this world. We followed our emotional ways and feared everything, to fulfil the desire of our flesh;

But God, who is rich in mercy (grace) and because of His great love for you and me, even while we groped around in this dark confinement of sin, when we believed, He made us ‘alive’. Together with Christ our only hope. This grace, God’s amazing grace, even while we were dead in the darkness of sin and trespass. In believing in Jesus we were made alive, together with HIM.

If we are a child of God, we are made alive in God through Christ our LORD by His grace and our personal faith. There are NO HUMAN WORKS involved, we simply believe God and He does the rest because the REST is already completed in the death and resurrection of God’s Son on His day of crucifixion for the sin of the world and His Day of resurrection for the ‘justification’ of all who by personal faith, believe.
