A Daily Devotional – Psalm 18 – Personal Meditation (5)

A Daily Devotional – Psalm 18 – Personal Meditation

Comment: Winston Churchill, before slipping into a coma and dying nine days later, made this statement, “I am bored with it all!” and Grover Cleveland as he was dying is quoted as saying, “I have tried so hard to, do it right!” Great men of the past! Yet when faced with dying could not help but to reflect momentarily on the struggles of living. In contrast to these mortal words are the mortal Words of the Immortal One. After suffering persecution and crucifixion, His final Words were; “It is finished” John 19:30. Jesus completely fulfilled the Will of God, the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ was not a secret, nor was Jesus ever bored. He did not have to think about whether He lived life right, He did not have to try hard. Why? Because in His humanity He followed the Will of His Father. The writer of the book of Hebrews understands very well that the Messiah/Jesus did not die bored, or worried if He did it right; notice.
Devotional: The Author of faith is also the finisher of faith. For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself.
Hebrews 12:1-5 – Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls. You have not yet resisted to bloodshed, striving against sin. And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to sons: "My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, Nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by Him; (Please continue to read through verse 17 on your own).

There are many witnesses of the past, as the writer of Hebrews reveals, these are men and women who revealed to you and me that they believed and trusted in a ‘heavenly hope’ Hebrews 11;13-16. They also understood that life could not be lived apart from “faith in God” and as a result they overcame the struggles of living and obtained a “good report” while dying, Hebrews 11:39.

Life in the presence of God the Father, by faith in Jesus Christ will never be worrisome or boring because trusting in the Christ is the reality that faith in God offers to us a better reward in the walk to eternity.
