A Look at the Book #373

The Devotional

Papa “J” and his thoughts?

Do you have a watchman over your mouth? The answer is yes. So who might that watchman be? Your neighbor knows if you are trustworthy with your lips, he also knows your emotional reactions. Would your conversation with God, who is closer to you, be like your conversation with your neighbor? Proverbs 14:20-21

I would like to write a little more about the song, “Jesus loves me”. During the 1990's our church was involved with prison ministry and several of us would go twice weekly to one of the local prisons. Our involvment was really blessed of the LORD and you could easily see the work of the Holy Spirit in the lives of troubled people. One spiritual awareness factor that struck me about prison ministry is the number of inmates that would be impacted spiritually by the song, “Jesus love me”. Today, ten years later, I am still reminded of the grown men who would weep when that song was sung. Whether the weeping was from remembering childhood experiences of going to church, or hearing grammy singing them to sleep in those early childhood days, who really knows! Maybe, they were hearing the song for the first time! Men, who steal, maim or murder have lost their way and these folks are no different then the banker or politician who has embezzeled or taken greedy advantage of his or her position in the public eye. These folks are no different than you or me. All of us fall short of the mark that God has placed in the middle of the target. Romans 5:8 says this: “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us”. Jesus loves me! Does this not make you break out like a thunder storm and cry all over your keyboard? Does me!

CERTAIN PSALMS OF INTEREST

Psalm 37:11-15 If you are among the meek of the world, then you know that Jesus is coming again. This will be seven years from this very moment if the translation of the saints of God to heaven came, NOW! This is commonly referred to as the rapture of the church. So all of the meek who ever lived to this point will go to the bema seat of Christ. 2 Cor 5:9-11; 1 Thess 4:15-18 and if you have time 1 Cor 15:50-58.

During this seven years from the Rapture to the Second Advent, called the Tribulation, the wicked will plot against the just and gnash their teeth over those who come to faith in Christ during that time. God will seek to save those who call upon Him, but He will also laugh at those who rebel because Jesus knows that His Day of return is near.

With swords drawn and with their bows of destruction ready to slay (many will be slain) Christ will return and destroy those who destroy the upright. Revelation 19:11-16. Peace will return to the earth along with the armies of the meek. We will return with Him to rule and reign for a thousand years. Revelation 20:4-6 and our passage, Pslam 37:11 (All of the grace and mercy of God is accounted for in the Person of Jesus Christ, if you do not know Him personally, you do not know the love of God).
