Daily Devotional – A Look at the Book #377

Some thoughts for today by Papa “J”

There are always opportunities for change. That is for people, places and the planet. Do not look for change from God, He does not change! If He did, we might all be dead! Malachi 3:6

I am making a slight change to the way the devotional goes out. I will be using Microsoft Office instead of Open Office since the latter program hangs up a lot. As time goes on, I plan to shorten things up a bit, making the read easier for everyone. Here is the point! We do lead busy lives and it is important that we maintain good stewardship over our responsibilities. So, I need to be aggressive with the morning message and both the reader and the writer need a challenge that will motivate us to walk in wisdom and understanding. Our mind daily focuses on temporal needs and this is normal. But in contrast we must be willing to focus on eternal things too, this also is normal. Both the temporal and the eternal working together is a worship sequence toward God that always produces the “Joy” of living life “In Christ” He alone is the anchor that places eternity in our heart while change takes place, all around us. Hebrews 13:8

Psalm 37:27-29

I love the Word of God, I love His Commands. Either do what He says or reap the consequence. The world around us lives in a system of relativisms’ seeking to believe in the unbelievable conclusion that evil is good. Here in Psalm 37:27 God simply but boldly says. Stop and get away from evil and dwell forevermore.

There are added rewards for those who dwell in the justice of God’s Word. Take a look at this next verse. Saints are those who trust the Blood of Christ for justification and they will not be forsaken. This awesome hope that the saints have will be rewarded with a preserved and protected eternal life with God forever. Wow!

Some have become cultish, thinking that holiness is a matter of doing good works. If we are not careful this passage and others like it promote doing what we can by human effort, be careful and do not fall into this trap. Our righteous effort is not good enough to bring us to God. God has brought us to His standard of Righteousness, who is Jesus Christ and God says, for us to Hear Him and follow Him. Psalm 37:29 and Philippians 2:5-11.
