The Devotional – 1515 – The Light and the Lamp

Psalm 119:105-112 – Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. I have sworn and confirmed that I will keep Your righteous judgments. I am afflicted very much; revive me, O Lord, according to Your word. Accept, I pray, the freewill offerings of my mouth, O Lord, and teach me Your judgments. My life is continually in my hand, yet I do not forget Your law. The wicked have laid a snare for me, yet I have not strayed from Your precepts. Your testimonies I have taken as a heritage forever, for they are the rejoicing of my heart. I have inclined my heart to perform Your statutes forever, to the very end.

2.       106 – I have sworn, and confirmed it, that I will obey Your righteous ORDINANCES.

3.       107 – I am afflicted, very much; revive me YAHWEH, according to Your WORD.

4.       108 – Accept I beg You, the willing offerings of my mouth. YAHWEH. Teach me Your ORDINANCES.

5.       109 – My soul is continually in my hand, yet I will not forget Your LAW.

6.       110 – The wicked have laid a snare for me, yet I have not gone astray from Your PRECEPTS.

7.       111 – I have taken your TESTIMONIES as a heritage forever, for they are the joy of my heart.

8.       112 – I have set my heart to perform Your STATUTES forever, even to the end.

There is a first time for everything under the sun! I completed this morning’s devotional shortly before 8:30 a.m., however when I went to save it and send it the program crashed. Nothing I tried worked to retrieve it; so here is another start. While I do not understand the reason all was lost, I do understand that this is just a tool to share with those who read daily. Tools break down, but it is the WORD of God that builds us up. The WORD of God NEVER fails, it never needs a revision and it is ALWAYS on TIME.

The WORD of God never is in need of direction, but the man or woman who seeks after God, must be willing to be guided by the LIGHT of the WORD because the pathway of physical life is a pathway leading to darkness. So it is the WORD of God that will always provide a lamp for next step of faith and a lighted walkway ahead. In order for the children of God to perform spiritually we must always consider that in keeping the righteous JUDGMENTS of God it will always be the correct direction.

I will not be able to complete this as I had hoped, so I will need to stop! It just seems that I cannot regain the thoughts I had earlier, but one thing I might challenge us with now is this. We spend too much time in the flesh and very little time in the Spirit. This is because we spend very little time in the Living Word of God. The light and lamp of the spirit is the WORD of God in the soul and not anything else. If you and I do not have a handle on our soul’s direction, the world will have a handle on our heart and the snares of the wicked will succeed in destroying us. earlier I reference a lot of 1 John 5, you might see the parallel of the psalmists work in this.
