The Devotional – 1506 – Be Diligent!

Psalm 119:41-48 – Let Your mercies come also to me, O Lord -- Your salvation according to Your Word. So shall I have an answer for him who reproaches me, for I trust in Your word. And take not the word of truth utterly out of my mouth, for I have hoped in Your ordinances. So shall I keep Your law continually, forever and ever. And I will walk at liberty, for I seek Your precepts. I will speak of Your testimonies also before kings, and will not be ashamed. And I will delight myself in Your commandments, which I love. My hands also I will lift up to Your commandments, which I love, and I will meditate on Your statutes.

8.   48 – I reach out my hands for Your COMMANDMENTS which I love, I will meditate on your STATUTES.

I though this morning that I would list the SPECIAL words found in Psalm 119, it is not that the words are absent from the other Psalms (these are not), but what is special is the number of times the writer refers to the critical issue of God’s Word to be placed in the heart/soul of EVERYONE who calls upon the LORD for salvation JUSTIFICATION, salvation SANCTIFICATION an salvation GLORIFICATION.

Sadly today the thought of a three phase salvation EVENT is ABSENT in churches throughout the U.S.A. Sadly too, is that many churches in this nation do not have a clear “gospel” message, never mind the need to STAY in the WORD. In this file (Psalm 119:41-48) where we will spend some time (more than today) I would like to focus on a few of these issues that churches and individuals face when TRUTH is left out of the Sunday morning MESSAGE. We will talk about a CLEAR gospel tomorrow, which will be today since tomorrow never shows up.

I say the Sunday morning message; since MOST people who go to church only GO on Sunday; “BAH HUMBUG”. There are one hundred and sixty eight hours in a week; most church goers spend less than 2 hours per week seated in a church listening to what is supposed to sustain them in FAITH for the following week. Most of what is heard is “emotional hype” with no “hope”. This; they truly believe as sufficient therefore they do not pray, read or study their Bible (if they have one) until the following week. 

Back to our Psalm – in twenty-two days the writer’s personal plea to God and himself is the importance of the WORD of God in his heart/soul as being VERY critical. His testimony is recorded for us over one hundred eighty times, in one hundred seventy six verses; he also reveals that he has a PERSONAL relationship with YAHWEH, twenty-four times. Now men and women; it is not my intention to “lord” it over you; or that I have more knowledge; or some “halfwit” idea that I am better than any of you. I AM NOTHING and if you forget me you have lost NOTHING.

Yet I am here to say to you, (If you have met YAHWEH/JESUS and forget Him on a daily basis, or if you have ears to HEAR and eyes to READ and a mind to STUDY; and you fail at this; YOU HAVE WILLINGLY LOST IT ALL as far as rewards go. You need to get hold of your Holy Bible, in it you will find the STATUTES (Joy) which are mentioned in Psalm 119 (45 times): God’s TESTIMONIES or PROMISES (52 times); PRECEPTS, COMMANDMENTS and LAW (68 times) and so on. The information of God’s lovingkindness toward you and me is like a RICH gold mine. The deeper you dig, the more rewarding the payload.
